Ever see an ERAC employee use their car to pick someone up? It happens in Las Vegas at the Henderson Airport.

In my 10 months at ERAC I never saw that happen. That's pretty wild. I always thought the Airports had big shuttle busses to pick up customers anyway. As an MT, I did not get paid enough or have enough vested in the company to use my own car to do that. I could definitely see some BM coaxing a green kool-aid slurping MT to "take one for the team" and use their own personal vehicle to pick up a customer.

This airport is a small one, for private planes. The branch is about a 20 car branch, small time. Too bad for the MT who has to do this though.

ah, very true. However, the MT doesn't "have" to do it. Shit, even pizza delivery people get compensated for using their own car. However, if you want to shoot up the ERAC ladder you gotta do what you gotta do :roll eyes:.

When I was an MT @ ECRAP and just starting out. We of course had no cars
when our last reservation came in at 6:00pm and my BM had me drive the customer to our airport office 25 miles away to get a car.
My f'in car breaks down (alternator went) halfway there. Back then we had no cells phones, 2 ways etc.
Talk abut an awkward situation. We hitchhiked to the airport, I got them in a car and then I had to pay to rent a car to get home.
I can't believe I stayed for 7 years after that!

Personally if my people had no other choice and ended up using their car I would tell them to fill it up give me the receipt then I would chit it out as gas expence.

What could the company do? Fire me? That would end up in at least 2 lawsuits. One from me for wrongful termination and the other more than likely a class action for not reimbursing the employees.
They could fire you. Any time they want. I would never reimburse mileage from the cash box. Think about it. You would subject yourself to huge potential for consideration of fraud. There is nothing tangiable you can show for your "purchase". Most groups have standards for what is chitable etc.

Being reimbursed for mileage from the GP HQ is not a joke. I would ask the question.

When I was a BM we got stuck in this position a couple of times. I had my employees submit miles to admin. Another time when I was a City Manager I rented a car from a Ford Dealer for a week when my Company Car was out on rent.... crazy shit for sure.

If you were to write the miles off for your car you would have to keep a log for the number of miles traveled. Even still you would be better off taking the standard deduction for your taxes instead of itemizing them.

Andy,

You forgot to include this in the "founding values".

Minor sacrifices to make to have Andy move up a couple of spots on the Fortune 500 list of most wealthiest people.
