Enterprise Gave 1 million Dollars the day after Katrina Struck and even paid all its full time/part time throughout this tragery without gaining any profit. No other Rental Car company gave to the American REd Cross or FEMA. So instead of showing us our faults...Praise us for that at least!

Go to the home page of Failing Enterprise, then click on "blog". See the page for September, 2005, and then read the blog entry for September 2nd.

I do precisely what you describe.

Just to be extra clear, I'll quote it directly here:

Like a lot of people, for the last five days I've been glued to my web browser, watching the horror unfold in New Orleans and the Gulf coast. Of course, the horror is magnified because every expert in the field (and a few concerned amateurs, like me) have been warning for decades that New Orleans was overdue for precisely this type of catastrophe. Humans and their political leaders seem to be especially bad at managing risks that have small probabilities and grave consequences, although how small the probabilities were in this case is subject to some debate.

Nonetheless, I want to ensure I give credit where it's been fairly earned. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. The company has waived drop-off charges for people escaping the hurricane, and employees unable to work due to home or branch losses will retain their paychecks and benefits.

Enterprise still has some very serious ethical problems that need to be addressed, in my opinion, and I wish they'd extend their compassion to their customers who are temporarily stranded in their branches every day due to intentionally overbooked reservations. But here they've stepped up to the plate with Hurricane Katrina and taken some bold action.

My hat's off to Andy Taylor, Enterprise CEO, for doing the right thing in this time of need.

If the Failing Enterprise online community can help in any way, let us know and we'll deliver.

?????, were you that big of a loser in high-school? Have you ever had a girlfriend in your life? Everybody demands a little bit of attention in their lives, but you definately take the cake. Take the money you are making from your so called business and do us all a favor and buy yourself a wife. Good Lord. I've never supported violence in schools, but you definately deserved every locker you got shoved into.

Yeah they also donate about 12-15 million a year to the united way. Get your facts straight.

I remember that post from months ago. Now, that million will help a lot of people, and it was a good thing they donated it, but I'd be more impressed if they donated that $10 million they gave for the 'noble sake of music.' Andy sure could afford it. They throw up a standard amount to show that they care. I'm not saying Andy is an evil man, but don't forget the business minded mentality that accompanies those types of donations. If Erac didn't donate anything, they would like assholes. So, they throw down a million, which is pocket change to Andy. I'm sure Andy and his cronies have had the thought of the amount of profit that Erac will lose in Mississippi and Louisiana cross their mind. I'm sure the VPs and upper managers of those two groups sure have had that thought cross their mind. Also, I'm curious as to how Erac corporate decides to spread that loss of cars and branches. I bet they spread that over those two groups. The right thing to do would be to just have corporate absorb that cost. But I doubt they'll do that. I do think the support lines they created for employees are a good thing.
Is Erac doing the right thing by donating money? Yes. But, I think about the numbers below before I'd give Andy a pat on the back...

Tsunami relief donation + Hurricane relief donation = $2 million
Some retarded musical orchestra to grease the wheels of business = $10 million
Seems a little off to me.
