Default Are Porters important?

I was just wondering whether or not anyone thinks that porters are an asset to the company?

Default Re: Are Porters important?

I would say yes as they often offer the MTs much needed solace. For me, talking to the porters and helping them out was much more relaxing than being in the office dealing with the idiot customers all day. When it really got busy, they were essential to keep things from backing up as well as running cars from office to office. Firing the porters would be extremely stupid as the lowly MT would not only have to clean bathrooms, offices, breakrooms, but would also have to take on the role of the full time car preps. Add that onto to dealing with customers, going on pickups, dropoffs, etc. and you've set yourself up for even higher turn over not to mention laughable ESQI. For a company that bases so much on ESQI (which is a mathematical joke), you'd think they would take provisions to make the work environment better for its employees because well run companies know that happy employees produce happy customers. Management in Region D just looks for ways to save a buck without clearly thinking of the consequences of their actions. Given that Nick Booras was leading a crusade to fire the car preps goes to show the caliber of Region D upper management. No wonder turn over is so high!
