Just remember that alot will be expected from you, and it won't always seem that the pay is reflective. This is called putting your time in; any of you who participated in club sports or greek life in college will draw an apt comparison to life at ERAC (in strictly social aspects). If you're friendly and outgoing - which is why ERAC offered you a position in the first place, not b/c of your GPA or "extracurricular activites" - you will come into any ERAC office, make good friends, and have some good drinking buddies after work if that's your thing (it was for me). It's a big company so you will meet people you don't get along with or who are just assholes, just as you will in life and any other company you may go to. You'll also get frustrated with the beauracracy (sp?) when it doesn't go your way; this happens, you're a salesman now so get used to rejection. What will make you a good salesman to customers as well as to your peers is the ability to adjust and improve yourself. "But why should I need to improve myself," you ask? "I just graduated college with my marketing/economics/philosophy major and I know everything about everything. Learning how to work with aggressive sales personalities will be cake." In my ripe old age of 23, one thing I've learned is that you should always, always be looking to improve yourself. I'm not talking about kissing ass or changing your character (neither of these are requirements to work at ERAC, despite what this website may have you believe), but don't be afraid to take criticisms to heart or learn what it took to become successful. And if there's one thing ERAC does boast, it's higher-ups are very successful and driven people; this is a very competitive company and people don't get promoted by accident or cronyism. Does every new MT become one of these success stories? I think this website is enough of an emphatic "No." ERAC's retention rate is 70% (most likely 60% in the 1st year), which is why ERAC is continually the no.1 recruiter of college grads. And why should it change? HR can't know who actually will step up and run a branch from a two hour interview, but if 1 out of 50 college grads hired turns out to be a fantastic salesman/manager/all-around great person and this person wants to be an ERAC lifer (i do), then our company will continue to improve. ERAC is a selective company and I wouldnt want it any other way. I worked hard, got promoted a couple times, and I'm making $45k in less than 1.5 years at ERAC. And who knows, maybe 4 years from now I'll be writing bitter stories about how ERAC burned me, but I really doubt I'll be that upset b/c I know I'm getting great experience - some of our managers leave b/c other companies make better offers. All I can tell you right now is that I'm two years out of college and still loving life with ERAC.

OK, I'm sure plenty of comments will follow, just keep in mind the website you're on.
You are not 23, you are an Admin. Probably a Retruing Mgr. worried about your summer quota. 23 year olds do not know the company's retention rates. I call b/s. Please don't start the lying until the poor grads show up for their first interview.

Really? Of all the places a recruiting manager could go to find potential employees (like every college campus in the country, #1 at recruiting), why waste time on a website dominated by posts from people who resent ERAC like it killed their parents? Most everyone who comes on this site denies that enterprise could ever be good for anyone, ever - even though the company makes $7 billion a year and top tier employees are very, very happy to be here. The post does sound like the enterprise pitch, but alot of it is true. At enterprise everyone does have the potential to be successful, but obviously not everyone can be. Don't discourage people from working here just because you crapped out. And there's alot of other posts on this site that break down pay - some people do make $45k in under 2 years, just not mediocre employees like you almost definitely were.

For some reason, Enterprise is #1 at recruiting. I don't know how they got there, but they won't stay there. Word will get out. The reason I went to Enterprise is because I knew they were #1 and always listed as a great entry-level employer. Then I realized the only reason they are #1 is because they swamp college campuses more than any other company and they lie to you about promotions and the company culture. They try to take advantage of young, intelligent people who have yet to have any real experience in the business world and tell them they could get promoted to RVP with Enterprise,no problems. What a crock of shit. Fuck Enterprise! After leaving training, they made it sound like 75% of the employees there would reach at least area manager. Enterprise is a cult, with a bunch of leaders laughing at everyone below them struggling why they sit and count their fucking money. Anyone who makes it high up is a stroke. I was a branch manager and realized that the only people who make it above manager are the same people who sit in front of the class in college and high school and suck up to teachers to get A's. The same for Enterprise, you have to suck up to upper management and let customers walk all over you while you lose all of your integrity and honor. Area managers try to brainwash people into staying if they are thinking about quitting, while they laugh at you behind your back if you stay because they know only 1 out of 27 people make it to area manager. 1 out of 27! What a way to make money and rip people off!
Whoever wrote this is a total jackass. Why do you think they make $7 billion a year? Because they rip off their employees and keep the money themselves. Last year in group 15, $50 million went to the Taylor's alone while, mt's are making $30K a year. I see this shit going on and it pisses me off. As far as top tier employees, they had to suck up and lose their integrity for years getting to those positions. If you want to be taken advantage of and lose your integrity and honor, be my guest. I feel sorry for you.
Bottom line is ENTERPRISE keeps their employees there and lie to them and tell them they will get promoted, in order for them to work hard and efficiently in the branches. At the same time, upper management knows they will quit eventually. So while they are working they thought it was easy to get promoted to RVP, but eventually quit like many when they eventually see the lies, while they were working very hard because they thought they would get promoted.
I make far more than an area manager now and I am in my upper 20's. And to this motherfucker telling me I crapped out, you are ridiculous. Crapping out is the smart thing I ever did. I've been gone for almost two years and have almost doubled my salary. Furthermore, I know quite a few people who have left the company as assistant managers and found much better jobs with more freedom, less hours, more pay, and much less bullshit. When I left Enterprise, the first two weeks made me nervous but now the thought of walking into an Enterprise makes me want to vomit. What a great decision to leave and if you keep this mindset up you will miss out on what life is really about.

Yeah and this guy is going to get 500-1500 dollars when you get hired also. THEY NEVER TELL YOU THAT.

Just to clarify E earned $7 billion in revenue not profit, there is a difference. I'm sure their profits were large, but not billions. Notice how they never say what their profits are....that is why they will never go public and will always keep it in the family. Share holders would freak if they knew how many $250k+ paid/year employees they had. Which is what is wrong with the company, too many employees getting paid too much telling too many underpaid employees what to do all day as they sit in their nice office counting their money. I remember back in the day, 5-10 years ago when promotions were happening on all levels every day. It was because they were opening branches weekly, creating new positions, and opening new divisions. Now that all of that has been done, they even passed Hertz for fleet size supposedly, there is not much growth left. So basically you will have RRM's and higher making good to great cash and just waiting for someone above them to retire or just retire themselves, with the occasion of an opening here or there due to growth. Meanwhile all MT's, Asst, Mgr's, Branch Mgr's, and Area Mgr's will work til they quit with the exception of a few....very few promotions due to some growth or upper management movement that spirals down. This is all ok with upper management because they know some 21 year old college kid will look at $30k with big eyes and watch them get bigger as RVP's tell them how big their checks are now and how they started out of college just like them....hook, bait, and sinker.

Ask any Area manager on their struggle to get to where they are. Every single Area manager I spoke to had the hardest road to get promoted. Nobody explained to me the easy road they promised you in training class. Sure, I am not saying that everything has to be easy but c'mon. They always say they were screwed on promotions, working too many hours for nothing, so on and so on.

Yes ERAC has great credibility that if you work for the men in green, other companies will definately take that into consideration when hiring you. What I would like this webiste to accomplish is that it does not have to be this way. This job would be nice to work if things can change. Hell, I made great friends and had some good times when I wasn't worked like a slave.

Everyone is complaining of the same problems...too many hours, not enough pay, constant back stabbing and promotability is really a joke, not to mention you can not even use the internet. This bothered me the most. If ERAC would actually start to address these problems, this website would stop because you would actually like to work for ERAC. But, they won't because it's still working for them.

What I don't get is how every area manager told me that I am going to hit walls constantly and even though I will hit these walls I should remain with the company. Then I realized that I started hitting walls almost every day working at Enterprise as well as about 80% of the employees around me. Now if that's not a sign to get out, I don't know what is. All I heard from the majority of other employees is how much they dislike what they are doing. At my current job, nobody hits walls and most people love what they are doing. My current company doesn't lie to you and at the same time shows each employee how much they care about them and their personal lives. There actually is a work life balance, unlike Enterprise's work life balance which is a complete joke. If you are at Enterprise and are having doubts, please leave it is the best thing for you to do. That's a promise and a guarantee. I know over 20 people who have left Enterprise that I still converse with and not one of these persons regrets leaving Enterprise and each and every one is much happier. Now, is that some kind of coincidence. I don't think so, it just shows how great leaving Enterprise is.

I left enterprise and I have a 9-5 job AND I get to take a lunch anytime that I want, I buy suits and they don't get ruined, I don't have to wear my coat in the office, I don't have to wash cars and I don't have to lie about where I work! Life is good!
