Default ATTENTION FUTURE COLLEGE GRADS WHO MAY WORK FOR ERAC (see 1st post)

You're going to see alot of ERAC bashing on this site, but don't fall for it. Sure ERAC recruits alot of college grads (#1 maybe?) and yes, alot of of them don't last - but if you're driven to get rich, learn how to run a business, or even just get some experience out of college, TAKE THIS JOB! Just remember that alot will be expected from you, and it won't always seem that the pay is reflective. This is called putting your time in; any of you who participated in club sports or greek life in college will draw an apt comparison to life at ERAC (in strictly social aspects). If you're friendly and outgoing - which is why ERAC offered you a position in the first place, not b/c of your GPA or "extracurricular activites" - you will come into any ERAC office, make good friends, and have some good drinking buddies after work if that's your thing (it was for me). It's a big company so you will meet people you don't get along with or who are just assholes, just as you will in life and any other company you may go to. You'll also get frustrated with the beauracracy (sp?) when it doesn't go your way; this happens, you're a salesman now so get used to rejection. What will make you a good salesman to customers as well as to your peers is the ability to adjust and improve yourself. "But why should I need to improve myself," you ask? "I just graduated college with my marketing/economics/philosophy major and I know everything about everything. Learning how to work with aggressive sales personalities will be cake." In my ripe old age of 23, one thing I've learned is that you should always, always be looking to improve yourself. I'm not talking about kissing ass or changing your character (neither of these are requirements to work at ERAC, despite what this website may have you believe), but don't be afraid to take criticisms to heart or learn what it took to become successful. And if there's one thing ERAC does boast, it's higher-ups are very successful and driven people; this is a very competitive company and people don't get promoted by accident or cronyism. Does every new MT become one of these success stories? I think this website is enough of an emphatic "No." ERAC's retention rate is 70% (most likely 60% in the 1st year), which is why ERAC is continually the no.1 recruiter of college grads. And why should it change? HR can't know who actually will step up and run a branch from a two hour interview, but if 1 out of 50 college grads hired turns out to be a fantastic salesman/manager/all-around great person and this person wants to be an ERAC lifer (i do), then our company will continue to improve. ERAC is a selective company and I wouldnt want it any other way. I worked hard, got promoted a couple times, and I'm making $45k in less than 1.5 years at ERAC. And who knows, maybe 4 years from now I'll be writing bitter stories about how ERAC burned me, but I really doubt I'll be that upset b/c I know I'm getting great experience - some of our managers leave b/c other companies make better offers. All I can tell you right now is that I'm two years out of college and still loving life with ERAC.

OK, I'm sure plenty of comments will follow, just keep in mind the website you're on.

Oh give me a break. That is always the line I was given when I worked there...you will be making $XX in a year when you get promoted. If you work hard, we reward hard work.

How many people you know went down the same track and is making $45k after 1.5 years? Better yet, how many people you know that after 1.5 years is still making less than $35k/year? Probably a hell of a lot more than the first question.

I knew people who have worked there for 3-4 years who is just passing the $40k and ask them their horror stories on what they had to do to get there.

All I am saying is this...if you are thinking of working for this company, go to a branch and talk to some of the people who actually work there. Go get a weekend special car and talk with your ERAC associate and ask them how they like there job. This website may look one sided, but we have all worked there before.

There is money to be made, this company does not bullshit about that. Corporate is full of $60k/year+ employees that all started in the same place. However it is not easy. If you want to dedicate 12 hours a day to this job, only make $30k/year, and basically minimize your social life outside of friends you make within the company, then ask them where to sign. If not, I suggest you look somewhere else.

Complete and total moron who has not seen all the holes in this bullshit. This is either a 23 year old ignorant idiot or some RVP trying to save this company that will eventually fail. I will never rent from Enterprise after working there and will try to persuade everyone I know to rent elsewhere as well. I really think whoever wrote this may need some professional help. To draw such a comparison between sports, greek life and Enterprise is absurd. And even more absurd is saying that you want to be a lifer. If someone told me, I was going to be an ERAC lifer, I would tell them to shoot me on the spot. My life is not worth being miserable 24/7. Hopefully, you will figure everything out sometime soon.

No comment on this "out-of-touch" youth.
Read this "whole" site. There is a lot of REAL anger, pain and sadness behind what people are saying. People feel hurt, lied to and betrayed. I hope people are smart enough to read what real people are saying. It pales in comparison to the ethical, "squeaky-clean" image the original poster portrays.

I'd question the credibility of the posters and this site if it was just a few people in an isolated area speaking poorly of the company. But when you have tens-of-thousands of posts of people taking the time sharing "their experiences", then we really need to at least consider what people are saying.
God knows Enterprise doesn't.

Who ever wrote this is either an idiot of major proportions or some ARM/RVP who is attempt to bring you along the "green-gravy train." Either way, just make your decision on your own. Heck, I worked here for about 5 years til' I got tired and was about to embark on a new venture--married w/ 5 mo pregnant wife. ERAC is what it is! Put in your time and yes you can succeed but to a certain degree. I was a mgr of a 260 car office, making approx. 65K/yr and had int'vd for an ARM spot I didn't get. Was asked to int'v for another and had a revelation as to did I really want to continue the working 10-12 hour shifts on a daily basis with seeing a kid awake quite possibly in the middle of the night--NOT! I enjoyed my time there and can only say that it's tough work and good opportunity to build rapport but don't get it twisted that it is the only thing out there. I was greek in college and enjoyed that life better than 90% of folks around, and was still able to carry a 3.5 GPA in Economics and just saw life was worth more than just working on car renting on a daily basis. That's right, you will be a "rental monkey". I now am in my field (investment banking) doing something I actually enjoy making $150K last year alone. Just ask yourself, if you don't get to RVP or some other semi-executive position, will you be cool working at a branch in 10 years or so.

He's right about the experience though... I got offered at least 3 jobs by random renters in my first year who just liked my sales skills, most of which I picked up from enterprise. It's definitely not for everyone, but you do learn alot there

Serve ERAC or make ERAC serve you!
EARC iz a bizinis boot camp N the Xperiens will always come in handy. Other recruiters know that anyone who haz endured some ERAC iz good potential candidate. U can either whine n complain about how hard life iz working @ ERAC or u can embrace n endure the Xperience with all the long hours, frustration, obstacles and whining customers you will encounter n c how it will prepare u 4 ur next step in life. I m shur that a high percentage of ppl end up leaving ERAC, but at least they are ready 4 whutever job they may find with probably less hours and higher pay. Its all about attitude n how u go about thingz in life.
I will definitly recommend my kids to try ERAC 4 a couple of yearz n c how better their chances r of getting an other job r if they don't like it. 1 thing i know, recruiterz 4 sure don't like whinos.
Just take it 1 day at a time and c where it all goes, besidz u can always leave whenver u want, it's not lyk therz an ERAC MP will court marshall u for deserting.
Laters y'all.
