Note to those in 16VV,

If you believe anything out of Dave Solano's mouth you're a damn fool and probably deserve what's coming to you.

Hey, working at 1V is a GREAT opportunity. You get to work nights, weekends and holidays for the same pay as those working Monday thru Friday and every other Saturday for 3 hours. You get thorough training at a branch that gets so insanely busy, they have a term ("Code Blue" ) for getting so busy they have to pull people out of admin to help them out. Will you get experience with 80% of ECRAP's business, i.e. insurance. Uh, no. How about demonstrating you can handle the day-to-to administrative tasks of running a branch like callbacks, receivables, JV's, cash boxes, etc. Uh, no. So where does the great training come in? Well, you'll learn to type a ticket in under 15 seconds cause that's all you're going to be doing. And please, don't buy that crap about them moving you out in 3-4 months. If your area manager can't find someone to take your place, you stay.

Memorial day is coming up. While the other branches are closed who is going to work at the airport? You're not going to get any more pay than if you were in a regular branch. yeah, they might give you another day off later but your check will still be the same. See, weekends, holidays and nights...for the same pay. Oh, "I can earn bonuses". You can earn bonuses in the replacement branches too. Ask yourself two questions. 1. Does Solano have any motivation to lie? Yes. 1V is a huge part of his region and since corp. is pushing airport market penetration, massive fleet up goes a long way to get him promoted. That can't happen if he can't get people to go. 2. Can you multiple people who have been promoted FASTER by going to the airport. Yeah, it's good for the career...just his, not yours. Enjoy and tell Theron Bell I said hi.

I tend to agree with this person. I have been with E quite a while, spending the last 8 years out of daily rental. They have been very enjoyable and the money has been fantastic. I think there is so much dissatisfaction among rental employees because of the extremely difficult nature of the "beast". It's a retail business which requires dealing with long hours, thankless tasks and difficult customers. Though I do not agree with all that upper management does, I think they are generally good folks. Also, it is very easy for people to bash those above them when they have had a hard day or decided to quit. Yes, it's a low retention business and the "dream" has to be sold to everyone because you never know who will make it. The dream does exist for those willing to put up with the tough times and who posess the skills to succeed. This company is not for everyone. I have noticed that the people on this site rarely take responsibility for their own careers and performance. If you were not promoted, the likely reason has to do with you and not others.

What a change from the early days of ERAC. I was one of the original Grp 16'ers, and enjoyed the ride. We worked hard, but were rewarded. The parties were notorious, and it doesn't sound like the DUI's have slowed down. Are any of the originals still around? Many were promoted to St. Louis, but who's left from the late 80's? Those were the wild, wild west days.....

If everyone is so unhappy, leave. It's very simple. You know the Oracle in the Matrix said it well, "you have the power of choice." So choose to leave, it's your life, choose a better one. And trust me, the skills you learn there help in many careers, and trust me again, the next job will pay a lot more and you will think it is ten times easier. I did and now I am making 4 times the monthly paycheck I received at ERAC for my two week paycheck just two years later. But first you must get out, it's not for everyone, and for those that "choose" to stay really aren't making the fantastic money they say they are.
