Who is "Len Almalech" at Enterprise?

I worked for Group 23 for a few years before being shipped overseas to the UK. Len Almelech is what his title states. He is co-founder of The Bay Area Group of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. At the time I was employed, He reported to General Manager Robert Jasper. They both founded the first Enterprise office in San Francisco in the early eighties and moved up from there when ERAC nepotism reigned supreme. The other man in question is Doug Watt, who when I last heard was a regional Vice president in Northern California and found of the weed!, lol (another story). Len Almelech is commonly known as "Lenny" and is a stand up guy. He is the reason I had the opportunity to go overseas in the first wave of ERAC's European Expansion. For those of you that wonder, the reason I was all for this was because at his level in 1990's dollars he was making over 500k per year. Bob Jasper was making over 2.5 Million a year. Yes, that much and Bob his own Leer Jet and pilot (this is the absolute truth and I know it may be hard for some to conceive here, but these were ERAC's glory days when they were hungry for Hertz #1 title and some commisions were huge). This is the reason why so many at ERAC in Group 23 worked there fingers to the bone because, again, in those days the company was a first rate pyrmaid Scheme (top dog makes the cut (commision) first, and so on. I lost touch with him about five years ago when I left a major insurance company that ERAC does much of its business with. I can elaborate more if anyone wishes, but wish to remain anonymous and no longer have anything to do with the Rental/ Insurance industry.

Damon, Sabrina, and Duane all have the same position. They report to Brent Biddle who reports to Stubby.

A few questions:

1. Is this the position Derek C. Watts used to have? Whatever happened to him?

Naw. At least when I was there, Lenny was higher up on the food chain than Derek. Lenny, at least when I was there, even owned a condo above the Folsom/3rd location. Don't know if he still does but you could probably ask the front desk. There was a Thai food place attached to the building. BTW, Derek is gone? Guess his music career must have taken off.

2. If Enterprise has 6,000 locations, and the guy who manages the five locations in S.F. gets to be called a "Vice President", does that mean Enterprise has something like 1,000 "Vice Presidents"? Does anyone else find that humorous?

ERAC and humor are pretty mutually exclusive topics.

3. Is "Len Almalech" one of the stiffs in the photograph? Hints: First guy is white, early 50's, mostly bald, wearing glasses, could lose a few pounds, white shirt with a dark tie, giving a dorky "thumbs up" sign. The second guy is African-American, early 30's, bald, wearing a white shirt with a dark tie, looks like he can't believe he has to put up with posing with this other guy and having to also give a dorky "thumbs up" sign.

Haven't seen the article but he probably is. When I was there, four years ago. He had glasses, mostly bald, a tad heavy but, relative to most ERAC employees, he was actually fairly lightweight.

4. While we're at it, can somebody tell me the hierarchy, including names and titles, from the branch manager here in S.F., going up the food chain?


Could have told you four years ago. Is Brooks Drysdale still the Area Manager. He took over for Bryan Wilson. I admit, I wasn't a huge fan of ERAC nor model employee, but I liked Brooks. He was actually a really good guy. Kinda like Tim Wakefield and the Red Sox, no matter what the issue or which higher-up, subordinate, or customer, was yelling at him, Brooks just went out there and did his job.

oops, meant to put a ? at the end of my inquiry re Brooks. Brooks was really a helluva guy. I think he played ball for the California (now Los Angeles) Angels farm-system after graduating from Santa Clara and pitching for the Broncos. He probably came up with Jim Edmonds. That's life for ya, two guys start out in the minors, one guy ends up a World Series Champ and likely future hall of famer, the other guy ends up caught in Group 23 hell and ground zero of where Failingenterprise.com came to be.

Brooks D is in AA's remarketing dept. He was regional remarketing manager but stepped down from that position, too much pressure. He jand his wife just had a baby maybe about 6 months ago and everything seems to be going well with him.

Huh? Chain of command applies to any organization...you work your way up...most of the time problems with little pissants such as yourself can be solved at a manager level or below. If it can't, then it gets taken higher. Get it? You stupid mother fucker.
