Default I was FIRED

TO ALL

I was fired because I failed to keep my branch's yard mowed, and not kissing me Area Manager's ass. I advise all employees to walk away from ERAC. Don't grill and try definitely not to get promoted. Sincerely
RH

Default call me crazy

But I can't find mowing grass ANYWHERE in the job description on ERAC's recruiting page...however, it's apparently another wonderful "bonus" ya get when working for the Big E.

I never knew there could be grass at an E branch other than what some of the employees were smoking or the weeds in the parking lot.

it probably is written somewhere in the contract you signed that you have to cut the grass. They'll probably tell you its like getting a "virtual landscape architecture degree".

There is some pretty "all encompasing" language in the personnel policy book that is signed and acknowledged by all employees. This vague language is then used to get rid of people based on gut feelings for silly things like failing to mow the grass.... ie failure to properly maintain company assets and uphold the company's reputation bla bla bla.

Certainly the area manager could have come up with something better? Was there warning? Progressive discipline? Do tell...

Default NOT

You were not fired for not mowing your branches lawn.
If you were asked repeatedly to do something, and didn't, that is called insubordination. As a branch manager, you are responsible for the "look" of your branch.
Somehow I doubt that was the only thing you did wrong.
There is your view, your AM's view, and the truth. Good luck in your new life.

A friend's atty is urging him to sue based on the loose interpretation of the "employee at will" stated in the book. If anyone has been fired and you work in an "employ at will state" and you think you have been unjustly dismissed you may want to take your policies and procedures book to your legal counsel.

Default lawn mower

You should have asked the area manager if it was ok to chit out a riding mower. It could also have doubled up as a potential upgrade for those holiday weekends. I wonder what the cost of dub would be on a lawn mower. I bet PAI would be easy to sell on that...those blades can be sharp.

Default ENTERPRISE SUCKS

ENTERPRISE IS THE WORSE JOB I'VE EVER HAD. THEY WORK YOU ALL THESE LONG HOURS WITH A LOW SALARY, THEN THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO TELL YOU TO DRESS PROFESSIONALLY BUT HAVE TO GO OUT AND WASH CARS. THATS BULLSHIT! I DIDN'T GO TO COLLEGE FOR 4 YEARS TO WASH CARS. IF I WANTED TO DO THAT, THEN I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A JOB AT A DAMN CAR WASH! THERE WERE DAYS THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN TAKE A LUNCH BREAK, AND WHEN YOU DO GET A LUNCH BREAK THAT WILL BE YOUR ONLY BREAK FOR THAT DAY. EMPLOYEES ARE THERE FOR 11 HOURS OR MORE A DAY AND ITS REQUIRED BY LAW THAT YOU SHOULD GET ADEQUATE BREAKS MAYBE 1 HOUR LUNCH, AND A 15 MIN BREAK LATER THAT DAY. BUT NOOOOOOO! NOT A ENTERPRISE! THEY WORK THEIR EMPLOYEES LIKE THEY ARE IN A COTTEN FIELD. EMPLOYEES SHOULD REALLY GET THE BOARD OF LABOR INVOLVED TO COME IN AND INVESTIGATE THIS BECAUSE THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG. UNLESS EMPLOYEES STAND UP THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AND ENTERPISE WILL ALWAYS HAVE PROBLEMS WITH EMPLOYEE RETENTION.

Default Re: lawn mower

that was funny...I think the riding mowers actually have more features than the Chevy Metro. You could rent it as a convertible and charge those horrible premium/luxury rates But hey "anything to "ROLL THE DEAL"" right?

RE:Enterprise Sucks....If I had to hear the term "Paying your dues" one more time I was going to go postal. you are 100% correct. It kills me because they have that corporate partnership with Jos A Bank and Casual Corner. What makes you think I am going to spend $300 on a suit that is going to get messed up anyway. Their dress code was (and still is) pointless. If Andy & Jack wanted a "bank" atmosphere they should have opened a freakin bank.
