Default what i dont get...

is why there is no failing hertz website? sure, you make a reservation, erac doesnt have the exact car you want, but they will give you a free upgrade into something else. When you make a reservation with hertz and they dont have your car, you have to pay for the upgrade or you're SOL. everyone talks about how bad enterprise is, but has anyone really taken a look at the competitors? have you ever made a RESERVATION for a car at hertz and been forced to walk because the DONT have your car? i have. atleast with enterprise im given options.

gee i wonder why? maybe its cause Hertz doesnt have to worry about a magic little thing called esqi. they stick to the book, who cares. typical Hertz conversation:

cust: hi, i know its 5 minutes before you close, but i need a car for the day. i'll just take the nicest economy car you have and i dont want any additional insurance

hertz: all we have is a pickup truck and its 59.99

cust: but i dont want a pickup truck, i want an economy car and a discount

hertz: piss off

Yeah, it usually goes one of two ways at Erac.

1) The customer reserves a compact car, all that is left at the branch is a pickup truck/cargo van.

2) The customer reserves a full-size car and the ticket monkey lies through their teeth and tells them that the (insert standard-size car here) is a full-size vehicle. The good ol' Enterprise downgrade.

Dont make it seem like the customers are getting upgraded into nice cars, its usually the garbage they weren't going to rent anyway.

Another thing that is interesting is reserving cars online. On Hertz/Avis websites it tells you they are sold out or that the car is not available at that branch. At least you know and can move on. On Erac's erbsite you can just make a reservation when utilization around the region is 97%. Then you have to call the cust and say we awont have the car for a few hours. They say 'whats the point of making a reservation.' At least there is some honesty with the other companies. If I rented a car only to find it wouldn't be ready for 6 hours I might be irritated too. Fuck Erac, Hertz, and Avis, I think I'll just take the bus and save gas...
