I've been with ERAC about 2 years and I've put my heart and soul into this company and have been fortunate to experience growth. I'm 24 years old and I'm forced to live with my parents since I really can't afford to move out on my own. I presently earn approx. $42K annuallly while clocking 60 hours or more per week and I have almost $16K in revolving credit card debt as well as an auto loan with a balance of about $11K. Will it be worth my time to stay with ERAC in hopes my hard work will eventually pay-off with a promotion to Area Manager? Putting all the hype aside, is the pay increase from a Branch Manager to an Area Manager that significant? Will it be the door to the "Big Picture" and finally achieving financial security? Will I be able to retire at 40? Will I be earning the big money everyone talks about? Your honest comments will be much appreciated. Confused

2)I would say stick it out until you pay off your credit card. CC debt is the worst, it might take another couple of years but you'll be better off. 3) The odds of getting an ARM position is probably low in Hawaii, I would guess. These next 2 years will really give you the answer, unless they fire you first for no reason. That isn't your fault by the way, it is just the way ERAC does business. 4) Have you ever thought about going to the mainland? This could open up your growth opportunities, maybe. 5) The odds of you retiring are thousands, maybe tens of thousands to one. Don't even worry about that one, that is the biggest lie at ERAC (other than phony inflated salaries). 6) Best of luck to you, remember shedding your e-chimp uniform feels great when it happens to you! |

2 years, 24 and is a branch manager? Who might you be? Would I happen to know you? If you read these forums, all your questions should already be answered! All the Area managers besides Todd, started many years ago. Now I believe Wayne is importing them from the mainland. So good luck trying to get ARM. Now if he fires them off out of the blue, then maybe you might have a chance. However, it all depends on how well liked you are. Sadly, the company may say they promote you through your performance, its all about how much ass you kiss!

if you stay at erac you are honestly wasting your time. when i left the company, i too had accumulated a bit of debt myself. not near as much as you, but enough to really stress me out. i remember when erac sold a jeep cherokee to one of our mt's... it was so sad because she was only making about $700/every two weeks. she couldn't even afford to pay her rent! seriously though, the best thing if you are questioning your career with erac is to get out as soon as possible. start looking around and when the best thing comes up, jump on it. tell me one success story of somebody who started out of hawaii and i'll be very very suprised.

I fucking hate how everybody sucks up to the top guys and tries to shake each of their hands! If I'm not not stuck in that situation, I would only say hi without a handshake! I have a co-worker that wants to attempt to rise up in Enterprise ONLY so that he can get all the attention from MTs! That's such a waste of time. He could do that working elsewhere and truly get the admiration he deserves.
