Default Truck Rental Locations Closing

I heard that truck rental locations are starting to close, one in Daytona FL and one somewhere in California. Anyone hear of any other closings coming? You knew they would never be able to make enough money to stay open...

The rigs in Vegas are constantly having their gas siphoned off at night after closing.

The whole truck division has been hemorrhaging cash for Jack and Andy for years. If it wasn't for flip my group wouldn't break even and it's a top 10 group. Now with more expensive clean diesel trucks I'm sure the profit margins in remarketing will plummet since no one has the money to ante up and buy a new more costly rig with diesel at $4.25/gal and a weak economy. Looks like the pipedream is over and Roger Penske wins. I hear they're hiring by the way.

Only 30 more selling days in the month, so get out there and sell, sell, sell!!!

Profitability or no profitability, the weather has now turned so if you need me you can find me and my white shirt knockin' balls on the driving range. The California golf course down by Lunken is nice this time of year. Maybe that's where I'll go tomorrow if this rain holds off.

You wish you were as bad ass as me on the golf course. Tiger and his bum knee have nothing on Big Red.

I am thinking about moving about to the truck location downtown (it is really close to home). Is this a bad decision?

The question you should ask yourself is how long do you plan to stay with this company. Truck is no different from car. You'll have bullshit mid-level managers trying to justify their paychecks telling you to push dub and asking you how many leads you have in the pipeline. With the economy being slow and diesel fuel running close to $5 a gallon things are a little slower so the grind isn't as bad if you come from a busy branch.

But just wait until the winter and all your customers trucks breakdown. You will need to enjoy washing salt off trucks outside with a hose in your suit and dress shoes, ankle deep in snow and slipping on ice, and I hope you like dealing with dumbass customers that don't know how to use glow plugs because you will spend half your day driving around jumping trucks off a battery from a compact car. You'll damn near have frost bite, be covered in salt, and then your AM and GTM will ask why you didn't meet your sales quota for the month since you should have had all the time int he world to go marketing.

You'll be expected to wear white shirts not blue and check tire pressure and engine oil levels on a dirty diesel engine with 125 thousand miles on it. You'll be dealing with slack jawed truck drivers who will drop you in a second for Penske to save a peny a mile. And you will whore yourself out and promise free delivery and one day free because you are so deseperate to close an account.

Does this sound like a good idea to you? Will you be proud to say this is what you do for a living? If you decide to go for it ask your GTM how many days a year he goes golfing. Actually, the weather is quite nice right now. You may have to wait until it's in the 30 degree range to get an interview.

In all honesty, if you're just looking to get out of rental check out inhouse. At least that is a cushy office job where you don't have to deal with bullshit from customers.

What's the sales quota per month? Like car leads and stuff?
How is the MGT in downtown truck? I heard Garrison is a good guy to work for.
