Default My story

Alright.

The people I worked with will recognize me from my screen name, and others will recognize me from my work history. So what. This is my Enterprise story, facts only.

Started at 4115 in October 2003. Wasn't sure about Enterprise, but when I went to see the place and met the MT's there, I liked it, so I signed up. I interviewed with Steve Vertesch (whose reputation precedes him) and then Brian Mogauro. In my experience, Mogauro was a class act. Nice guy, told it like it was, no-nonsense, straight to business. He even helped me pay for some of the fee this bullshit agency charged me for finding Enterprise for me (they charged 10% of your first year's salary! Hey, I was dumb and naive at the time).

Worked there for a few months. Had an awesome manager (now an ARM), learned a lot from Pablo (who moved back to Argentina) and had a great time working with the other MT there, who is now also an ARM (which is BS, but that's another story...)

Got moved to 41J6, where I stayed another couple months. Then Victor Almodovar came by my office to see if I was interested in working at the airport, 4142. Seemingly, this was a good thing, since each area is supposed to give only their best to the airport. However, Slick Steve (vertesch) didn't want to lose his star MT at 4115, so I was expendable. Didn't matter, I learned a ton and Victor is ten times the ARM Steve ever was.

Took the airport gig, worked there for 7 months with probably the best bunch of guys that place has ever seen. Everyone there got promoted and then promoted again. Will, Matt, Roxanne, Mario, Ivan, Henry, Joey, Rick Miller and Atalo, and Victor. Busted my fucking balls. God that place ground it out of you. Ridiculous hours, shitty pay, but again I learned a ton.

After six months, it was time for Victor to be rotated out and a new ARM to be rotated in. Renzo Roncal. I was more burned out after 1 month with him as the ARM than I was after 6 months with Victor. Thankfully an AM spot opened up at 41B5, and I applied for it, along with 3 other people from the airport. Plus, it was in Victor's new area. I got the position.

41B5. It feels like I spent half my life there. True, I didn't have to be there until midnight, but that place was tough. I got there in February 05. It was me, my manager, one MT and two preps. 150 car fleet. solid system in place, good relationship with the dealership (mercedes), ok rates. After 3 months, shit hit the fan. The service manager, great guy named Dave Appleton, was muscled out. Two idiots who couldn't find their own asses with two hands took his place. They increased the number of appointments taken per day by 50%. Suddenly it took 8 days to get an oil change for every customer. I was finally making money ($45k/year). Fleet doubled to 300 since everyone rented cars for a week and a half instead of 3-5 days. Only nobody wanted dub any more 'cause they knew they wouldn't see their cars again for so long.

ESQI kept dropping. hit a 62 one month I think. stuggled for two more to bring it back up. Got it consistently around 80 and busted my balls, thinking I would get promoted. Manager went on a month-long vacation(!), meaning I was there six days a week for four weeks from 6:45am to 8pm. Pulled a frickin 92 ESQI, after several solid months, Op was good. Put in for a promotion to manager- and was told I couldn't even apply! Basically, everyone from the airport got the jobs, and I was told to STFU and bend over. Nice.

Another couple of months go by, during which time our ARM left the company, only to be replaced by Iris. Oh boy. Iris. Not a people person. How is she a manager, who knows.

Thankfully a spot to be an AM back at 4142 popped up, so I took that "opportunity" and ran with it. Another 7 months of slavery, during which time I made less money and worked even harder (quite a "promotion"). Again, I loved the people I worked with (Vickers, Jardine, Roxanne, Cathy, Martin, Katie, Chris, Alicia, Ramon, Jose, Mike, Catalina, Faith... Wassup!)Despite this, we could not maintain a consistent ESQI, so I could not get promoted. This despite being told by my RRM, RVP, ARM etc. that I was "RVP material".

Finally, our 3 month ESQI hit 80, and I was outta there, to 41K6, as a manager. Got a decent, fair comp package, had 1 MT and 2 preps. Bad debt was outta control, but didn't have to worry about ESQI or CDW sales, just rate and BD. I hit all my frickin incentives almost every month I was there, and a couple more incentives that were region-wide. The last two months I was there I made over $6000 per month as a manager- about time too.

Then, my mother in law gets cancer. Hospital knows it but doesn't want to pay for it, so they misdiagnose it and she gets worse. We decide we have to move to get her real medical care, so move to Massachusetts. I have an excellent working relationship with me RVP, RRM, and the RRM from 41EE. All three are friends with the RVP of the region in Boston I am moving to, plus the GM is Steve Bradway, the ex-GRP41 VP. I am told that given my excellent preformance, loyalty and hard work, and since I am moving for family reasons and not through choice, they will help me in boston and not demote me back to MT.

That did not happen. I tried to go back to being an MT at Logan airport, but it was miserable. Switched to a local branch and decided this was BS. I worked like a dog for 3 and a half years, towed the company line, was loyal, and proved myself at every level to be one of the best, and it got me nothing. Realized I hate retail and don't like sales, and resigned 3/1/07.

All I can say is WOW over and over again after reading your story focusing on the horrific investment you made in YOURSELF, unfortunately in a company that has no integrity nor appreciation for quality people just as you sound like you apparently are ... but what I want to say even more .. CONGRATS that you are out of this snakepit of a company ... and I pray you are in a better place ... by the way .. how is your mother-in-law doing now ??
Blessings and all the best to you ... "contracheck" ;)

My mother in law thankfully is doing very well. She had to have brain surgery for a tumor this past January, but it was benign and since then she has basically fully recovered. In November of last year my wife and I had our first child, and now that my wife has had to move back to Miami to finish Med school, my mother-in-law is playing the role of babysitter.

So essentially, moving to Mass saved her life, and ended up saving my professional life. I finally was able to see the truth about ERAC and move on.

Haha, nice try troll (Vertesch, is that you?). I quit on my own terms, they didn't fire me. Take a look at any of my numbers and I guarantee 90% of them were better than the numbers before them. On top of that, I would bet my mortgage there are some numbers in every branch I ever worked in as a manager that have still never been beaten. I was making over $6K a month at K6 cause I was getting every single bonus they offered me.

I didn't quit 'cause it was too hard. I quit because I gave my heart and soul to the company and was prepared to continue to do so. Then ERAC, the company who "takes care of its people" demoted me for moving to help save my mother-in-law's life from cancer. You tell me, why would anyone possibly want to work for a company like that?
