Thats a laugh. I think that word should be removed from any of ERACs terminology. It makes a mockery of those of us who do real marketing. Don't get me wrong you may have done some sales calls but that is far from marketing. The only real marketing that is done in two places; 1) St. Louis in the MarComm dept. 2) some BCAM's actually do a good job at marketing. Everything else is equivalent with what a vacuum salesman does everyday.
After all when is the last time you had to breakdown demographics, research inventory stability at certain saturation limits, survey a control group, breakdown supply and demand among various cross sections of your local popultion or client base, or better yet when is the last time that you had to run any kind of statistical analysis on anything.
The correct answer would be never. Not one day after you set you feet in an ERAC branch as a MT will you ever have to do any of these things. You are there to:
a) write up rental contracts
b) sell CDW
c) recruit for the company to replace those who saw the light
- why else do you think they give you a nice little bonus when you get a person to sign up.
d) learn to run a branch's daily opperation so those above you can sit on their fat asses, pretend to do some work by pulling cars from one branch or another, and reap the benefits of all your hard work.
