I am going to stick it out espcially with us buying Vanguard. I am sorry to see that so many people are unable to make ERAC work for them. Hard work and long hours, so what.

How do you know what people that make 40 base max out at? Lets be honest, new level 3 area managers, nationally, dont make a whole lot more than 65 on average there first 2 years as ARM. Fact. Prove me wrong. And , would you rather have to run a retail business from 7 to 7 every day (and Saturdays...), making 65, maybe. Or work 9 to 5, and MAYBE max at 60? Food for thought.

I think Tom has done a great job since arriving. What did he do that you don't like? Please be specific. If your going to be vague then just don't respond.

Been away for 2yrs, but was there for the mckinley/tobin change. two yrs with mckinley and two with tobin. its hard to really get behind someone that killed all motivation after putting up with the bullshit hrs and pay(that we all accepted when hired,no problem with that). poised for BM and find out that percentages have been slashed and my "promotion" would be a pay cut. all that work for the rug to be pulled out. Still worked as BM for 1.5 yrs. I have no respect for TT, due to his tactics and then accepting all this praise for improving gp50? slash personnel $$, how long did it take to come up with that?

It couldn't have been that bad if you are enjoying talking about it so much. Instead of being on this site you could spend time w/ your families or your friends that you say you never saw while working for ERAC. Or maybe all of your friends are on this site??? Just food for thought. Go get a life.
Yeah, I usually read this site while I am at work laughing at all the erackers putting in 60 hours and hating life. Hey go clean my fucking car. And make sure the tank is full you piece of shit.

The Phoenix Group never won a President's Award...ever...until Tobin took over. He eliminated the stupid guaranteed pay plans that McKinley put into place, and trimmed the fat. If you don't like him, chances are you're not putting up the numbers to make a decent commission.

My husband worked for Enterprise for a number of years, he worked an average of 10 hours a day, some Saturdays and sometimes even Sundays picking up cars and getting them ready for Monday. He was a Branch Manager and was making less $$ than a UPS truck driver and they only work 5 days a week!!! (this is a fact since we asked one). He has a college degree and was putting it to use since he was supposedly managing his own business, however he was still making less $$ than a truck driver. He said Enterprise had a work-time-balance philosophy however he was called to work when he was sick, could not take a full hour to go to lunch, was never able to make it to a doctor’s appointment since every day he was either short staffed or out of cars.
His branch was doing ok, had average growth, average profit and the ESQI was ok, that’s all we talked about, but still he made no money. I couldn’t understand why he stayed, I thought his job sucked! Finally he decided to quit, now he makes more than double what he made before, he goes to work at 7AM and comes home at 4pm. We meet for lunch twice a week. He actually smiles when he gets home, he loves going to work the next morning, no more e-mares (he had nightmares every night, he asked for cars in his sleep) No more washing cars in the heat (I wasn’t sure if he was a manager or a lot attendant) We spent more money buying white shirts than our car payment. You guys should get money for shirts since you wash cars all day, they get ruined after one day!
He talked about Tom Tobin, he said he only care about money and the bottom line and did not care about his people (your retention is a reflection this statement may be true) I understand he is trying to run a business but shouldn’t there be a balance? If he’d only witnessed how hard my husband worked for nothing he would think twice next time he wants to cut percentages. Why can’t they create achievable goals? I went to business school, I understand numbers, I saw the projections when my husband used to come with his pay plans, they were ridiculous! From one year to the next they want absurdly major improvements. Not sure if this was the case with everybody but some of his piers used to make the same statement. People, the grass is greener on the other side, don’t be afraid, it can’t be worst than what you’re doing right now…

Grab the spread sheet, look at the most profitable branch, figure out what that manager is probably making and then think about the amount of work his putting, the hours, the bullshit... That poor guy is doing his best and he is still making less $$ than then worst used car sales guy, than a beer truck driver, than a recently graduated interior designer, a vietnamese waxing lady (I could go forever) He should put that college degree to a better use...
