Default looking to transfer to phoenix

I am looking to move to phoenix and transfer with ERAC. Are there any Area Managers worth working for?I am currently a branch manager and I dont mind starting over as long as my boss isnt an asshole. Does anyone have any advice on who I should contact in GP50?
Confused

Why should you have to start over? Why is it that when people move to a new location Enterprise busts them down a rank or two? I can't think of any justification for this.

The reason they do that is that if there is no opening for another branch manager what are they supposed to do? Just put him in charge of another branch with another branch manager and have 2 of them. You can do a lateral move as a BRM if you are eligible for promotion, there is an opening and it is allowed by a Level 3 above the ARM. Otherwise you transfer as an MA. There are plenty of companies that will not allow people to transfer at all and ERAC will let you do it within a month which is pretty good considering the thought of having to get another job just to move. The other thing is that most people who were a BRM when transferring are usually in the same position with 6-9 months depending on if they show they were promoted on performance in the first place and not because of who they knew (there also has to be an opening). What do you think would be a better way of doing it Admin? Screw the people who have been working in a certain group for a few years and are trying to be a branch manager because a current manager wants to move across the country to a market/culture he/she may not be knowledgeable about? What do you think is a fair way of doing it? (No sarcasm intended, honestly).

I have contacted my HR but I will not move to AZ unless I know who I will be working with. My old boss was a nightmare and I dont want to go through that again. If anyone is working in Phoenix and they like their Area Manager then I would be interested in reaching out to them before I make a decision...

I hadn't considered the "there are no openings where you are going" argument; that makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure that markets and cultures are so vastly different from region to region to negate an employee's experience, though.

You would be surprised how different regions of the country vary. I moved to NC and I wouldn't say there is a culture shock but you can tell that the family values, religion, business culture and infrastructure vary even though I was a few hours away previously. The other thing is that each group is treated as it's own company and to work your way up in a company, learn accounts, people and the way things are run kinda make you feel like you are first in line for a position. But if someone is to be accomodated just because they were a manager previously pisses of local employees (trust me). I have a buddy who is an ARM and a manager was moved into the spot in his area from out of state. His employees as well as people who wanted to put in for the spot were pissed and he actually lost face because they felt he said to them "I could care less about you." That's not what he did but it is not intent that effects people but impact.

This ties back directly to the internal culture that erac has created. There are so few of those opportunities, the employees get pissed when someone else gets one, especially an outsider of that group. Maybe erac shouldn't continue misleading everyone by saying these types of positions open up more frequently than they actually do.

Last I heard all new hires had to come in through the airport location... Ready for varying shifts and TF in all his glory?
