Anybody know the magic answer to why ERAC spends so much money on recruiting whereas they could spend the same money on retention and have 10 times the success they have now? It must cost several thousand $$$ to recruit, hire, and train a noobie. Why not spend that money on employee development, satisfaction and retention? Now group 50 has an "expectations manual" that says the GOAL for employee retention is 65%. Am I being stupid or doesn't it seem like a bad business plan to set a goal which entails losing 35% of your staff? Aren't goals supposed to be lofty and give you something to strive for? If ERAC thinks this is a good way of "weeding" out the "weaker" employees, why not be more selective in their hiring criteria?

I don't know, but newer employees are cheaper employees. Perhaps they don't want to keep any old schoolers because the "big picture" is structured around a program that will burn anyone out... It just matters how much endurance each individual has. You retain, you pay more AND you still end up losing people. Again, I'm just taking a stab at it... Better to train, retrain, and train how to train than spend money and reward loyalty.

The original poster that is an astute comment for a seemingly new employee. The fact is ERAC doesn't care to lose people, that causes opportunity in a company that has growth problems. I hounded my ARM in GP50 before I quit to help me stop the bleeding at my branch an in the area. His philosophy is only the good ones stick around and thats all that matters. In regards to the 65% retention, that is quite a lofty goal for GP50. Considering they are mired in the 30% range, and sinking. Get out now, trust me.

In any company the strong survive. It sounds like you and your friends are the weak, the ones cleaning our floors at the end of the day. There is no shame in who you are and what you are destined to become. I have been working for this group for 2 years now. I was in GP32 prior and we had the same philiosophy there. The strong run the company and reap the rewards. The weak, you and your friends, help us operationally for a little while and then go elsewhere, which is what we want. I have seen this group make great stides over the past 2 years and we will, in fact, earn an exceptional achievement award this fiscal year. BD and I have helped turn this group into a power house and we did not need you and your cry baby friends regardless of what you think. The only ones who complain are the ones that don't matter anyway, True heroes win! Why do you hate us so much? Is it because we are #1?

The last time you checked? I didn't know people in your position had access to any real #'s other than your own? Our group is one of the worst in retention over the last year, but that is only due to the fact that people like you were hired and now we need to weed you out. We have improved our hiring practices and have been much more selective on who will be given this great opportunity. You and your cry baby friends are encouraged to leave so we can bring the new, better, crop into our great system. Your time, while made us no money and created no new opportunity, was worthwhile and your efforts in cleaing cars was appreciated. Good luck to you, and when your company car breaks down, we will be happy to rent you a car when PHH or Wheels is fliiping the bill. Im sure Enterprise isn't the only thing you don't get. L4

Wow! I thought you said you turned GP50 into a powerhouse, but now you say you are just in the weeding out stage. Face it, Krister, you haven't done anything more than worsen retention. You failed to mention that ESQI has been in the tanks as well. (Five points below corp average is really killing it) I love that ERAC is being very selective to who they give this great opportunity to. Gee there must be so many recent grads with the itch to work 56 hours a week for 30K salary. Everyone is frothing at the mouth to rent cars for a living. What's next? Are you going to try and sell me the dream again. You are a loser. Thank you for pointing out that I have a company car, because I sure didn't have one at ERAC. It is nice to actually place things in the car, that you don't need to remove by 7am the following morning.

Wow, you are a true madman. I never knew someone could be so angry just because they could not figure out how to be a success. Good luck in your future endeavors. I hope you find happiness and learn to calm down. p.s. I work under BD but I am glad that you think I am a GRM.

You know what, this conflict is funny. What's even funnier is that in a year or two, it won't matter because you won't be with the company.
