When I have reserved Full-sized vehicles in two prior rentals, I have gotten stuck with a Focus one time and a Cobalt the other time. This is no way to impress your corporate customers.
I worked for National for quite a while, and I can tell you the SAME DAMN THING happens with them.

I guess this means they know it's Saturday. Is there a corresponding "Cars Not Available" sign that the branches have for Monday through Friday?

You should provide chairs and soft drinks for customers during the mandatory upselling seminar.

I'll bet the interrogators in Abu Ghraib prison could learn a thing or two by observing these "conversations". I'll bet the ERACi's could have the Iraqi's begging for CDW protection within just a few minutes of extra-legal pressure.

Another agency fulfilled my reservation is less than 30 seconds. Enterprise should create an "Enterprise Airport Edition" and actually start tying to get the business traveller market. They'd have to change their whole culture, of course.

I actually worked at the airport office in San Antonio for 6 months. Cars, contracts or keys were lost on a daily basis. The place was a zoo; nobody knew where anyone was or when the next car would turn in. We had more complaints about that office than any other office in the area. The phones never stopped ringing, the computers always crashed, and there was always 2 or more customers in the branch "waiting for their reserved car". I would say this made more than a few customers blow their stack and chew us up one leg and down the other. This led to a high turnover of employees due to the constant stress of no cars and many reservations.

I left in the middle of an endless frustrating Summer afternoon while I was writing up a ticket. I told the customer and the others in the office that I was going out "to check on the progress of the rental" getting prepped. Instead, I jumped in my car and never looked back. I figured that getting sworn & yelled at for something beyond my control was not in my job description.

I found a job three weeks later. Never look back.

I had to qute this because you hit on a prt about DUI's. When I worked at ERAC I had a scenario theat went like this

ME:Welcome to enterprise yadda yadda yadda, Sure can I see your drivers lisense and credit card.
CUST:I don't have a credit car
ME:Then i will need 2 bills, etc etc,

Usual argument ensues. Customer leaves goes home gets bills and comes back

ME:Okay all the bills are in order can I see your License?
CUST:Here the police Dept said this would work as a license

Cust hands me a piece of paper that and says it entitles him to drive until his court date.'
ME: Sir , what exactly is this

And now I really quote what he said word for word

"Not that it is any of your business but I got a DUI last night when I hit another car, Listen I just got out of jail they gave me this paper now give me a fucking car"

I looked closer at the paper and sure enough that is exactly what it said. It was a provisional license good for 30 days until he went to court and decided if he gets his license back

I obviously didn't give him a car and the argument that ensued could be considered legendary. I can not believe this stupid SOB would think I am going to give him a car!

I used to work there too! The office was an unmanageable chinese fire drill. To anyone thinking of renting from them at that location-steer clear. No matter when you made your reservation, your car WONT BE WAITING.

At the airport: We are still learning this market's demands. We are new at the airport thing, so sometimes we piss off the "road warriors". All the same, we have found that most customers don't mind being asked how their flight was?, would they like a nicer car?, would they like to not have to be responsible for the car if they wreck it?, etc. We are working on streamlining the process for the more jaded regular business traveller. Here's your economy car, sir. Hope you like the Kia Rio. It's sure to impress your clients... The damage report process still remains the same as our home city branches, and you will still have to cough up your deductible, and suffer raised rates from your insurance company, but aren't you glad we didn't slow you down when you picked up the car with any irritating sales pitch about our damage waiver? Aren't you just thrilled you didn't pay $14.99/day for two days when you tagged that deer and caused $3500 worth of damage to the rental car? Aren't you so much more happy with having to have a claim filed with your insurance company? Don't you just love paying your $250, $500, or even $1000 dedutible to repair our car? Hey, we are, too. We're just glad we asked you which insurance company you have so we know where to send the bill and how much your deductible is so we know how much to slap your credt card for... Have a GREAT flight back home, sir...

As to your corporate rates being "higher" than retail: Your corporate rates are guaranteed to be the same, year-round. This means that a SUV will cost you $60/day (or whatever), no matter what. Yeah, sometimes the retail rates might be 49.99 and you are still paying $60. The standard-sized car cost you $36/day (or whatever), and the retail rates might be $29.95 today. Are you being ripped off? Well, I guess it depends... In the winter, when SUV's are going for $129/day or higher, you still pay $60. In the summer months, when economy cars begin at $54.99, you still pay $36 for the mid-size. What a rip-off!

If you would like, you can call your corporate account representative, and have you account rates changed to a 10% discount off of the retail rates, year-round. Just don't squeal when the SUV you want to rent during the winter months costs you $98/day (or more) or the full-size car in the summer costs $ 67.00/day (again, or more...). As far as I am concerned, if I were running a company with regular rental needs, I would rather just know what a given car would cost every time, so I could budget for it... Your business may be different....

"New" at the airport thing? You have been at airports for over 10 years you fucking moron!

It's kind of funny that erac_whore made sense of an every day experience at any rental company... you rent cars for business, you get decent customer service (as long as you dont have a stick up your ass), your enterprise liason does a great job offering you options. With all that repeat business they are bound to run short on cars... right? Enterprise does a great job, but I don't think Enterprise would ever downgrade someone. Come on, seriously.. that is such a bullshit story... lol! As a customer who has been around the block with rental companies, Enterprise has never put me in a smaller car whatever the predicament may be. I may have been stuck with a larger vehicle than I needed, but hey, what the hell... it is just an auto to get around. Gimmie a fuckin break with all these petty ass complaints. Who the hell do you think you are complaining, if your company is paying for the rental, WTF! Maybe you should chat with your CFO and find out how much you are actually saving anually donkey! As if you really give a hoot.
It is easier to complain and bitch than be faced with the facts.

All of that and ERAC still can't hold most of their reservations. Weird.

Honey, i HATE San Antonio. All those mezkins speakin' spanish.
Just because they are 99% of the city's population does not mean that us Americans cannot insist that they speak english!
