Default San Antonio Airport (Group 52)

I passed through the San Antonio airport today. The other rental car desks were serving a customer each, but nobody on line. Enterprise had two additional people on line and they had to wait there a long time. There was a sign on the counter that said "Cars Available", which made me laugh. I guess this means they know it's Saturday. Is there a corresponding "Cars Not Available" sign that the branches have for Monday through Friday?

You should provide chairs and soft drinks for customers during the mandatory upselling seminar.

I'll bet the interrogators in Abu Ghraib prison could learn a thing or two by observing these "conversations". I'll bet the ERACi's could have the Iraqi's begging for CDW protection within just a few minutes of extra-legal pressure.

Another agency fulfilled my reservation is less than 30 seconds. Enterprise should create an "Enterprise Airport Edition" and actually start tying to get the business traveller market. They'd have to change their whole culture, of course.

I've mentioned that to my "superiors" many times, but was shot down. No, as I've stated on here before, their response is always "We are better than the competition, and we'll never go to the quick in-and-out method because we have better and friendlier employees that like to greet customers with their smiling faces. This shows we are superior to the competition." Uh-huh, superior all-right. You know, every time I go to Target, I get a little bit annoyed by them asking me if I'd like to save 10% by signing up for a Target credit card. But, it's a simple no, and they are done asking. I can only imagine how annoyed our customers get on a daily basis by the amount of upsells we attempt, followed by three or more of the "are you SURE" questions we must ask in trying to force CDW down their throats. But, I'm probably just blinded, and this is really the superior service we offer (SARCASM!!!).

Enterprise should also provide soft drinks for the poor bought-in drone working at their counter, because chances are they've been there for 10-12 hours already without even a small break. Of course, this is never mentioned in the day in the life on their website!

Admin - I'm glad you got taken care of as quickly as you did. I know you don't like to mention which company it is, but I'd really like to know what the procedure is with them - do you just show up, tell them your name, sign a card, and go pick up your car in a specified space? If so, that's AWESOME and how it should be. Plus, I'm sure the person behind that counter is also smiling and no "better" than the Enterprise employees!

Actually, I no longer have to even sign anything. It's just name, keys, space. At the airports, I have to show a driver's license to get out of the lot. At my regular branch, I don't even have to do that; they know me. They really want me as a happy customer and they really show it. At Enterprise, the only thing I got from being a regular corporate renter was a higher rate than the walk-up rate. How long will someone put up with being penalized for being a regular customer?

Very well put to the person above. ERAC employees fall for so much bullshit. They make you fell guilty for a taking lunches and for asking for days off. I hated working there so much. I still have nightmares about my 3 year prison sentence there.

I'm still on my prison sentence, but I'm sure hoping to post bail pretty soon!!! Unfortunately, bills still need to be paid, so until another job offer comes along that seems acceptable, I'm stuck pushing waiver.

Here's the REAL definition of a corporate customer at Enterprise Rent-A-Car: You won't get walked if you are a corporate customer - you'll just get stuck with whatever car is left on the lot, while the rest of the "regulars" with reservations are sent packing. Plus, we'll only ask for two no's on CDW instead of three! Of course, for having this privilege, you'll pay dearly for it (rates are about 10% higher than the walk-up rate, and a good 20-30% higher than Internet rates). Thanks for the patronage!

How long will they put up with it? Who knows - that's on a case by case basis. However, when I leave this company and possibly get a job where I'd need to rent cars for business, I KNOW which company I'll avoid!

So what you're saying is that the average consumer can't make this decision on their own...they need your help. You did what anyone should do in this case, you went to a competitor. Don't you think most consumers can figure this out for themselves....Mr Self Centered?

Sigh...

At risk of being further "educated" by FailingAdmin, I will again respond...

At the airport: We are still learning this market's demands. We are new at the airport thing, so sometimes we piss off the "road warriors". All the same, we have found that most customers don't mind being asked how their flight was?, would they like a nicer car?, would they like to not have to be responsible for the car if they wreck it?, etc. We are working on streamlining the process for the more jaded regular business traveller. Here's your economy car, sir. Hope you like the Kia Rio. It's sure to impress your clients... The damage report process still remains the same as our home city branches, and you will still have to cough up your deductible, and suffer raised rates from your insurance company, but aren't you glad we didn't slow you down when you picked up the car with any irritating sales pitch about our damage waiver? Aren't you just thrilled you didn't pay $14.99/day for two days when you tagged that deer and caused $3500 worth of damage to the rental car? Aren't you so much more happy with having to have a claim filed with your insurance company? Don't you just love paying your $250, $500, or even $1000 dedutible to repair our car? Hey, we are, too. We're just glad we asked you which insurance company you have so we know where to send the bill and how much your deductible is so we know how much to slap your credt card for... Have a GREAT flight back home, sir...

At your regular branch: I'm sorry, but due to certain legal liabilities, I will need to at least see your driver's license. For all I know, you got a DUI last night, and no longer have a license at all. I don't want to lose my job, and ERAC doesn't want to be sued for negligent entrustment when you slam our car into a schoolbus full of children for your third DUI in eight days. Yes, we know you, but do we really? Yes, we want you as a happy customer, but if the onerous task of pulling out your license and credit card is too much for you... well, sorry. We especially enjoy it when you go off all over the new guy, who, on his second day in the branch, dares to ask you for ID and the credit card, like he was trained to do... He'll be logging onto this site and spilling his guts any day now. Thanks, pal.

As to your corporate rates being "higher" than retail: Your corporate rates are guaranteed to be the same, year-round. This means that a SUV will cost you $60/day (or whatever), no matter what. Yeah, sometimes the retail rates might be 49.99 and you are still paying $60. The standard-sized car cost you $36/day (or whatever), and the retail rates might be $29.95 today. Are you being ripped off? Well, I guess it depends... In the winter, when SUV's are going for $129/day or higher, you still pay $60. In the summer months, when economy cars begin at $54.99, you still pay $36 for the mid-size. What a rip-off!

If you would like, you can call your corporate account representative, and have you account rates changed to a 10% discount off of the retail rates, year-round. Just don't squeal when the SUV you want to rent during the winter months costs you $98/day (or more) or the full-size car in the summer costs $ 67.00/day (again, or more...). As far as I am concerned, if I were running a company with regular rental needs, I would rather just know what a given car would cost every time, so I could budget for it... Your business may be different....

I agree keeping the rate the same year-round is an excellent budgeting tool, but it works both ways. If you guarantee me a rate, please guarantee me a particular size car. I have never had trouble with this through Budget or Hertz. Why can't Enterprise do this?

When I have reserved Full-sized vehicles in two prior rentals, I have gotten stuck with a Focus one time and a Cobalt the other time. This is no way to impress your corporate customers.
