YOU MUST REALLY BE LOOKING TO MAKE A LONG TERM COMMITMENT TO ENTERPRISE, BECAUSE LORD KNOWS, ERAC REALLY PUTS AN EMPHASIS ON HIGHER EDUCATION TO GET AHEAD. I'M SURE YOUR MASTER'S DEGREE WILL REALLY HELP YOU WHEN IT COMES TO DETAILING THOSE PONTIACS IN YOUR WOOL SLACKS IN THE SUMMER SUN OR SLOSHING AROUND IN YOUR WET DRESS SHOES WHILE SCRAPING THE ICE OFF THOSE HYUNDAI'S ALL WINTER LONG.

How many hours do you log in for your 50G and how many additional hours do you log in after business hours?
| |||
I was there two years ago and left as a BM. I know that many of my peer BMs in EE were only making mid 30s--which absolutely blows considering the hours, workload and dues-paying involved in making it to the BM level. In case any of you are not already aware, ERAC works like a massive pyramid where the highest tiers make outstanding money, and the underlings get hosed. This especially applies if you are a branch manager of a smaller branch or you walked into an underperforming branch. The Level 3's will swear that they cant give you above the "maximum" commision percentage---even though they know that you'll be lucky to break 35K at 8% of OP. It was also funny because during my time in Orlando, I heard from other groups that the supposed "maxed-out" commissions for each position are complete BS. I talked to several people from other groups who were making over those based on their situations. Bottom line, I made decent money while I was there(otherwise I would have left a lot sooner), but in looking back at the overall picture, they should have paid me 80-90 grand to put up with all of the BS and especially that obnoxious, condescending asswipe Adam Schneider.

Is $50K considered a good income in 2007?
| |||
$50K.............let's see: 65-70 hours/week, looking for your cars in the hood, getting cursed out by a lady with no shoes and in her night gown at 10:30am on a Tuesday. oh yea......breaking the 4 inches of ice in the buckets at 7am with the brush handles. The thing I truly miss is the fuzzy math at ERAC. There are columns on the IPC that no one...I mean, no one can explain.....i.e. other expenses. Keep in mind that most of the bean counters are has been (or never were) rental folks. We all know of the high hiring standards (can you fog up a mirror and hold a brush..............congrats and welcome aboard). How about this one: You feel you are having a good month...your numbers are out and you have a 12 OP!!????!! You go to your ARM, who by the way is a complete jack ass, and has no idea about anything because he is so hung over from the night before and probably cheated on his wife with your new MT........... You call accounting to find that they "accidently" hit your branch with a TTL that was another branch's.....do they say I sorry we'll get that check to you ASAP......................absolutly not.................we'll credit you next month. In the mean time you have a $175 commission check to pay your rent, bills and food. All that credit does is increase your taxes for the next check The $50K at face value looks good but the hell you go through to get it, the lost family/personal time and stress levels you endure are NOT worth it.

I think that more likely, most branch managers are making a total compensation in the 40's. If you have a 200 car branch, you'll make more, but the last person brought up another great point. When 50% of your compensation is received as a bonus/commision, it gets TAXED TO DEATH. Usually in the 40%+ range. So if your commision check is $1000, you'll be lucky to walk with $600. Now, of course, you should make a killing on your tax return, but this doesnt really offer you much peace of mind when you've got monthly bills to pay. I also realize that there are many other industries where this is the case, but thankfully most are designed with a higher salary and lower commisions. This provides more stability when planning for your expenses. **God, I'm glad its over for me. Its a travesty, ERAC has so many great people that it chews up and spits out in the giant green and white meat grinder they call DAILY RENTAL. One day things will come full circle. Andy T/Adam S.(EE) and company will eventually reap what they sow from their horrendous retention. I have no doubt that the company will continue to be successful as a whole from a financial perspective, but one day word will get out that this company is not the best to work for, in fact, it may be the worst for recent college grads.

OK, maybe we don't make much as managers, and we do work too hard and put up with way too much bullshit, especially from customers, but Adam is not an asswipe, I think he is a very nice man and it is awful that he is having to deal with a terrible illness, I don't think he needs to have people talking shit about him when he's trying to figure out what's going to happen to his young kids when their dad passes. Have some compassion, people!

IS THIS REALLY TRUE ABOUT ADAM SCHNEIDER? THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE HEARD THIS ON THE BOARD. DOES HE REALLY HAVE CANCER, IF SO, WHAT IS THE SITUATION? I CANT STAND THE GUY FROM MY TIME WITH THE COMPANY, BUT THATS BUSINESS--THIS IS PERSONAL. P.S.--IF YOU ARE JERKING MY SAUSAGE ABOUT THIS, I HOPE THAT ITS YOU THAT ENDS UP WITH THE BIG C.
