While I was at ERAC, I saw numerous people get canned or put on probation for their driving record. You have to be smart about it, even if every company function has booze. It's just one more way they create "opportunity" for promotions. It's an easy way for them to let someone go, especially when it is a BM or above, it creates a chain reaction of promotions.
Part of the problem in region E, is that most people have moved around so much and the area is so large, most people don't live all that close to their branch. What does a cabride from Cary to Wake Forest cost? Or Chapel Hill to Raleigh? Knightdale to Fuquay? etc. I know ERAC may reimburse you but how are you going to get to work in the morning? Most ERAC employees don't have $100 in cash for 2 long distance cab rides. ERAC should have a driver come to the function in a 15pack to shuttle people home if they are too drunk to drive.

ERAC may reimburse you for a cab ride, but you are dumb if you dont think that puts a blackmark on your record.

Which is more of a blackmark, being responsible and paying for a cab and getting reimbursed ( I never had a problem), getting a DWI and paying a lawyer thousands of dollars and then getting canned or losing your license or killing someone? You choose.

That's a pretty good deal, huh? Don't show up and you are an anti-social non-team player, and do the right thing and get a cab and you are an irresponsible drunkard. That's a fucked up catch-22. Before anyone comes on here and recommends that someone could go to the outing and actually not drink, I'll go ahead and call bullshit. You can't sit there for two hours and listen to ERAC episodes without beer. Especially when you are trying to act interested in these poor MT's careers and whether or not they will RSET or grill or whatever, when all you want to do is tell them to get out as quickly as possible.

I would go to functions and not drink if I was driving home but that was because my office was 45 minutes away and I was not chancing the ticket or killing someone. If I did drink it would be 2 beers at the beginning and nothing for at least an hour after that. I am a bitch :-(

I find the whole thing ironic...a company that rents cars has so many activities with alcohol involved. I can understand them being tough on the issue of drunk driving but why do they encourage so much drinking. Do they think it motivates the employees? Can't they come up with other "perks" to rally the team other than alcohol? It sounds like the team gets rallied but not in a "Pro-E" direction. Just because the team is fairly young doesn't mean they only respond to booze.

most people just want to drink after a day at ERAC. Being dead serious- working at ERAC can be very hazardous to your health. On any given day, the percentage of people who show up to work with a hangover is probably 99.2

Yes ERAC puts you in a situation with alcohol, but its your personal responsiblity to say "I've hit my limit" and hold out afterwards. I usually will stay for most of the deal, drink a couple and eat the whole time. Never get more than the faintest buzz and make sure I stop drinking at least an hour before I hit the road. Maybe I have more self control that somebody in that same situation with a drinking problem can't control. But I still don't think thats ERACs fault. Sucks for the guy, but shit happens.
Shit happens!!!!!
That's your fucking answer. God help you that you don't kill yourself or someone else. You are a typical irresponsible little puke!!! If I knew who you were I'd beat your ass. You drink, you drive, you or someone you love or possibly don't know could die. Damn...get a clue!!
