Las Vegas police arrested one of their own Tuesday, saying a downtown patrol officer let a woman avoid jail in exchange for oral sex.

Carlos Alberto Ortega, a four-year-veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department, was booked into jail on charges of voluntary sexual conduct with a prisoner and misconduct by a public officer.

Holy shit, I remember when this happened and I was like, "Wow, I know that guy." For those of you that don't remember Carlos, he was indeed a very shadt cat. In fact, I believe his nickname was 'shady Carlos'. He worked as an MA forever behind Fletcher Jones Chevrolet and we used to go and pick up cars from him all the time. He was always cool to me, but you could tell that the guy was a little shady.

Sad. I remember Carlito when he was at 22 and then 2N. He was a nice guy back then, (albeit a crazy Mexican/Patrick Swayze from Roadhouse haircut) but generally nice guy. He definitely booked the shadiest Mexican/mini-van weekend deals that I had ever seen. $200 cash paid up front, full boat, no deposit (the money down was considered the "deposit", unlimited mileage. The Vans would always come back with like 1000 - 1500 miles on it. Guy always made the sales dinner and had great sales numbers. As a police officer you have to know that if a women tries to bribe her way out of a citation w/ a little head, it always ends up bad for the cop, always (unless of course your Harvey Keitel from Bad Lieutenant). That was 2005, anyone know if he beat the case, did time, got his badge back, back at erac????

They would never give him his badge back after pulling something like that. IIRC, he had the lady cuffed in the back seat and was driving her in to book her when she offered him the deal. So, Carlos pulls into an alley, uncuffs the lady in the back seat, gets his suck off, and then turns her loose. The next day, she calls 911, hangs up, and a squad car comes over. Well, she spills the beans, so an internal investigation begins. They call Carlos into Bill Young's office and he confesses to everything. I think he said the reason he did it was because his wife had been out of town at the time and he hadn't had any in about a week. In the wake of Operation G-sting, they take any type of corruption by a public servant very seriously in this town. They might give him a reduced charge, but they are not going to drop the charges. Actually, as back logged as the criminal courts are around here, his case may not have even come up for trial yet.

Hey thanks to Carlos. Every Mexican full boat deal customer was known as a Carlostemer. I worked with him briefly, really shady deals. But it helped waiver.
