Default Where do lost Area Managers go?

With Shawn Leh leaving I started to ask myself, where do departing Area Managers go?

Being in the real business world, I don't know of many employers that would see a lot of appeal in hiring an Enterprise AM for anywhere near the money they were getting paid at Enterprise. I can picture an AM gets hired as Marketing Director somewhere and coming up with the plan of handing out donuts and pens to their clients every Friday.

In all seriousness, I'm not knocking them and saying that they have no applicable skills, but I am curious what kind of jobs they get when they leave Enterprise, assuming they have been no where else since college since Enterprise.

I know some current ERACers are going to come out and give me a text bitch-slap for asking this, but I just don't know what comparable jobs are out there.

Chuck Medina is now running for governor of Kentucky.

I think you would be surprised. There are a lot of companies out there that know about ERAC and all the things an ARM has to do while there, so they become very marketable. Typically the ARM is the best outside sales person in their ERAC area (or one of the best), so they can go into outside sales, or sales management. Of course they can always stay in retail management. The ARM is not out there looking for an entry level job like the trainees and branch managers of the world. ARMs do not become claims reps for insurance companies or pharma reps. ARMs become very viable employees for other companies for a lot of reasons (length of stay at ERAC, sales ability, management experience, committment, ability to get promoted within an organization, etc., etc.). Again, they don't go looking for entry-level positions when they leave ERAC. The jobs aren't as many to choose from, but they are out there and they are more rewarding (both financially and professionally) than the entry-level that others leave ERAC for.

I honestly just didn't know since I'm not sure what happens to ex-Area Managers. Like who knows where Leh is going. I'm not sure what ended up happening to Chuck Medina and Shawn Vose.

Chuck works for Bank of America - I think he is a VP of Marketing or some high position there - He is still friends w/ Zavacky - they belong to the same country club.

Hold the the phones, junior. Are you for real? "...the best outside sales person..."?? Enterprise/your definition of outside sales is laughable. Effing completely mickey mouse stuff, dude. The ability to "build rapport" with an uneducated grease monkey/body shop grunt has no connection or transferability to real outside sales. Let's call it field sales, yeah? Talking a dealership out of using their loaner fleet so that you rent them an extra 4 metros (tanks on empty and reeking of b.o.) a month does not equate to managing a territory in any industry. We are talking about millions of dollars of real goods and services changing hands here. Entry-level? Define that for all of us, please. Your thinking/lack of thinking is entry-level. Retail management is where your buddy STEVE WEIDNER started his checkered career. Ask Tom Johan how many financially and professionally rewarding positions awaited him on the outside. How about Lei? He was the golden boy 5 years ago...what now. New bulletin: 6 years, 6 figures is a myth. What does Kevin Rowe make? Any of these cock holes would be lucky to land a 3rd shift spot with C & S wholesale grocers or Karn's Foods. Effing laugh riot...keep posting and say it with me now..."GROWTH, OPPORTUNITY, PROMOTION"!!!

They wind up being flushed down the toilet with the rest of the turds that flow through the upper management at ERAC. What don't you people get? This company that you work for is a laughing stock. Next time you are at a bar or something and people are talking careers tell them where you work. Look at the looks on their faces: either some one just shit on rotting corpse or they think you are a fucking loser. Lets call a spade a spade here...ok? Anyone still working at ERAC and visiting this site and making snide comments behind the facade of this anonymity are just plain pathetic. Leave the company then come back and enjoy the laughs. This site makes us so happy to be where we are in life. I mean the whole process of prepping a car and booking the deals and selling that fucking rip off damage waiver is like a monkey fucking a football.

Amazing how many new opportunities come available when after a while anyone worth their weight in dog shit leaves the company...

David Brent thanks for the laughs...
