I rented a dropped off fleet car that my branch didn't even own. I switched her out the next afternoon. I dind't think it was really shady, but I was told later by my manager that it probably would've gotten me fired.

I have heard of people "rolling" their own personal cars and puting a car that is at Dan's B/S on the ticket!

If only the walls @ 5703 could talk!!!

Surely nobody has really done that. Who the hell would want to rent their own cars? ...and for what purpose? They don't get any money out of it, and you'd be SOL if an accident happened.

I've had managers and area managers rent their company cars . . . but never their own. Is that what you meant to say????

No! Branch employees rolling their own cars! They put a shop car on the contract! Granted it is usually the assistant or branch manager who does it and there is always the risk of an accident but when you are put behind the eight ball crazy things happen! It is easier to do that than to explain to an crazy irate customer why we didn't "keep" their reservation! I am not sure if this has happened lately but this has definitely happened in the past!

Not sure how "shady" this would be considered.....but we had a car that was about 7,000 over for a LOFR and a busted back seat belt sitting behind the office. I really had to roll this one for the sake of retaining one of the dealerships we were on our last limb with.
