that his dealer written all over it.......... he said that statement quite a bit in the past...............as a matter of fact, before I left, he told me not to get wrapped in golden handcuffs. Never heard anyone else in the group say that.

[quote=Unregistered]But it's a derogatory term.(/QUOTE] I guess it depends from which perspective you are looking at it from. From ERAC upper mgt perspective, "Golden Handcuffs" are the only tool you need to rely on to retain most key employees. As an employee's income goes up the company's efforts to make the employee feel any good about thier contributions goes down in an equal amount. Then after a couple of really good years, the employee is used to the big bucks and the company knows that 99% of these high income employees will never leave becuase they are stuck due to thier earnings. By the way... golden handcuffs is a pretty common term in the business world in general...........

I don't care who you are...it's derogatory. If you are using it to your own advantage or if you are using it to discribe your plight...it is still derogatory. There are so many current "Golden Handcuffs" in 62 at level III it's scary! I can only assume it's like that in most groups too. Can you imagine being in charge of 25-30 people and 5-10 million $ in inventory? You think you are really important. Most likely this was your first job out of college and you are making 100k-120k (after 6-10yrs) I would be stuck too. You have put in all this time...invested in all these people...you are deep in the culture....this is the situation the term "golden handcuffs" was made for! Kooken, Davis, Sipich, Vining, Gerardy, Diaz.....where else are they going? Kooken had alternatives...God only knows why he likes the punishment Davis is nice, but please! Sipich is fun...but please! Vining is a dork and Gerardy is good in some ways, but not polished enough to even make it in a start up pharma company. He is a little, goofy monkey. And he has a bitch for a wife! Diaz...please...that article was so funny...PR piece!
