I left ERAC and didn't go into pharmaceutical or medical sales - I segwayed my ERAC experience into a sweet account exec position in an entirely unrelated field. But give this pharma-whatever guy a little credit for getting his ass out of the McJob environment that is ERAC and into something with better pay and hours. And to give you a bit of credit... pharmaceutical sales can be a brutal industry. Why else are there ALWAYS open position adds available for positions in that field (extremely high turn-over perhaps?). It isn't the "be all end all" apres ERAC I agree - still it is a step up in the eyes of most everybody else I've talked to in various corporate/professional circles.
ps. Are you one of those people that believes the usage of foreign terms in your everyday speaking is something builds the perception of greater than normal intelligence or worldliness from others? I mean, yeah, it's kind of cool and all, but by then throwing the definition into whoever this pharma-loser's face hurts your cause. Traditionally the practice of tossing out the definition of a foreign term as if to say "this term is part our everyday lexicon" when it isn't merely portrays one as having a weak argumentative style. I have a feeling you are better than this.
