You should look for another job. If you can't find one, here's the deal, regardless of the promises made to you:

You will probably get hired; if you don't, you are weak.

Once you get hired, you should be a trainee for no more than 90 days; if you are a trainee for more than 90 days, quit. Trainees get completely brutalized as they try to weed out the noncompliant, weak, and/or incompatible. Horrible tasks, worse pay.

After 90 days, you'll be a mgmt asst. (MA) for about 3 months. If you have worked at ERAC for more than 6-8 months and are not promoted to asst. mgr., quit. MA's get brutalized worse than trainees as the filter/weed out process continues.

After 6 months, you'll be an asst mgr. If you have worked for ERAC for more than 18 months and are not promoted to Branch Manager, quit. AMs make average money for non degree holders. Still, the hours, tasks, and rewards are horrible. Over 1/2 of employees quit before this point. That says something.

After 18 months, you'll be a branch mgr. If you have worked for ERAC for more than 5 years and have not been promoted to Area Mgr., quit. Branch mgrs make decent money if you disregard the hours, stress, tasks, and rewards. A lot of responsibility, so it's a good learning tool if you are still in your mid 20's.

After 5 years, you'll be an area mgr. The next move will probably be a long ways away. From Area Manager you go to District, then Region, then VP, etc. But once you get to area mgr, don't count on any more promotions. Area Managers make good money, and by this point you've invested too much to quit. You've "made it", congrats. Less than 1% get this far before realizing what an absolute scam ERAC is and how horrible the company/conditions are.

If you want to get ahead fast there are other ways besides ERAC:

-start your own business
-commissioned sales
-graduate school
-work overseas

Most people who go to work for ERAC do so because it's the best job they can get and they buy into the sales pitch. You can work retail sales part time and start off making 30% more than full time ERAC.

Pros of ERAC:
-good experience working under stress in horrible conditions.
-opportunity to move up fast (given you bust your everloving ass and play the politics right)
-some cool people, lots of young people.
-pretty good medical
-once you've done ERAC, you've seen the bottom, so it's only up from there.

Cons of ERAC:
-HORRIBLE pay
-horrible product (damage waiver?! gmafb)
-horrible hours (weekends, long days, etc)
-horrible customers (renters, body shops, dealerships, insurance adjustors, etc. are some of the scum of the earth)
-below average financial/retirement benefits
-overall stress
-bad reputation
