Re: Where have all the cowboys gone! Does anybody remember Dan Snell ? This guy was pure money. I am glad he got out when he did. He was frustrated by the end with all the BS and really hated it from day 1. The guy would give you the shirt of his back and E-Cars wouldn't give him a pot to piss in. You wonder why so many good people leave when you leave promotions in the hands of morons, but then again how many educated people really see this as a career ? They are so focused on the numbers aspect of promotions. The way anybody used to get promoted was toss all your no's in your ass mans # and take all the yes's. What this means is now you have a 2 year MT who knows his branch better then his new 6 month assistant manager. The branch ends up going to pot and you end up with a branch full of unhappy employees working for an incompetant Assistant manager. I know they worked hard to perform and yada yada, but the key thing I learned from being a manager and I use in my new job is although your customers are the life blood of your company, your employees need to be treated the same or better. Something to think about E-Cars, you say your employees come first but how is that possible when people are just handed promtions without anyone knowing without an option of a fair interview, or work 65 hours while there manager is too hungover to come into work 2 days out of the week. All I want is the truth for new employees. Tell them realistic expectations. For example when you become an assistant manager you will work 60 hours a week will never have a lunch, and sometimes we will not post job openings and just give it too who ever we feel like. You can argue me all you want but at the end of the day it is the truth and I think it is only fair to inform your employees. In all honesty I think Mindy and Rod are great people but they don't have an F'N clue of how badly things are handled by City Managers. Don't get me wrong there were a few good ones (Cam Charnley, Marty Meadows, Mike Couto) But Jeff Jarrell obviously needs to work on his management and people skills for a man in his postion. As well as Shayne Barker after 6 P.M. the guy is great to hang out with but unfortunatly is not very solid at his job. A lot of people think both of these guys handle employee problems like a beer leaguer in right field on a windy day. They will try to handle it but it becomes very scary to watch because it always ends up hurting retention or morale. Sorry to say it but it is only the truth...Thanks for listening to my rant. I wish the best to all of my close freinds still in the trenches and remember don't be afraid of leaving you can always do better, you are very employable and have worked hard ,all you need to do is sell your-self and aim high. |
