I can't tell you how ashamed I was. I think you're in the wrong job if you're not proud to tell people what you do for a living. I realized, yes, I could make a lot of money here long-term, but at what price? I'm better than this. Now I work 35hrs a week making more than I ever did at Enterprise in the marketing field. I admit, Enterprise had its good times. The people I got to know in the branch were some of the coolest guys I've ever met, and the down time spent chilling was great. But that's not enough of a reason to stay in an unhappy stressful and thankless job. I see morons getting promoted and unqualified people moving up because they were in the right place at the right time, while good people are getting passed up. Everyone's got their breaking point and by dismissing them as 'not being able to hack it in retail' is just bullshit. The Enterprise lifers aren't the ones who can hack it better than the rest of us. They're the ones who have nowhere else to go. |
I have never seen so much BS together. 35hrs/wk and how much are you making? For how long have you been working for this company in the "marketing field"?
So you would be ashamed to tell people that you are an ARM or a City Manager? That you take care of 4 to 30 branches? BS!!! Let's not even talk about the money, because everybody knows that it can be 6 figures in 5 years.
Where can you start as a trainee and 5 years later you have the chance of run a $5 M/year business?
I know that ECARS is not the perfect company, and we have a lot to improve (mainly HR issues and retention, some old school ARMs and BRMs that were used to do nothing and still make quite a lot of $$$ without actually deserving), but show me any company that does not have problems. Embrace them, challenge them, work hard so someday YOU can take care of them.
I am just sick tired of people saying the ECARS is crap, etc... Enough already. Is this a job for anyone? NO. Is this a company that anyone can succeed? NO. So, if you found something better, GOOD for YOU. If you can't find anything better, then the problem is YOU. Stop complaining and DO something or just leave, because it is clear that this is NOT for you.
But what I can't stand is how people who worked for years for ECARS and applied for all kind of positions (and did not get more than BRM) now are the one who trash the company the most... Duh! Guess what? Take care of your life+job... If you were so over ECARS you would not waiste your time here.
