I think the vacation thing may depend upon state law. Here in California, employers have to credit you with vacation on a pro rata basis with every paycheck. Get ten vacation days per year? You accrue them at a rate of 10/12 days per month. Your paycheck shows how many days you've accrued, down to the 1/100th of a day. And if you leave the company, they have to pay you for all the days you've accrued.

Vacation is not the big thing, the fact that you get an ACTUAL lunch is much greater. Enterprise emplyees...do you like the fact that you have to eat on the fly every day? Do you realize that by law you are supposed to get breaks, and an actual lunch?? How about thte fact that you signed that document, saying that you were ok about working beyond law limits for hours? Yes some people that work for fortune 500 companies and work hours, but they have something on their reusme to show for it. ECRAP on your resume = nothing. Possibly a sales job if u r ok with that. Lets do some math, kids...I was one of the "better paid" manager. 50,000 a year roughly. So 60 hours a week x 52 = 3100 = $16 / hours. Come on. Every manager (including me) @ Enterprise thinks that they are going to be an area manager. I see the point of why you would think this, because there are si many retards that they let in back in the day that were morons, that now run spots (AO, GN, MJ, BP, etc). You all know you are smarter than them. But the problem is, only about 2 spots open up a year....and they don't neccessarily go to even people from C2! think about the people that were around forever, and never got that promotion: Craig, Frame, Cuppy, Burgess etc. (someone add to this list). Then think of those that became managers, then quit. Why did they take all this time to do this? MTs/ MAs/ AMs...realize that you are being "sold" a dream. there is nothing wrong with continuing with this company, I did it, along with a number of people for a few years...we would be hypocrites if we told you to "get out". I am not asking you to do this.. Just realize that it is a sales job, and your area manager's biggest role role is to "sell you the dream".

I’ve worked at ERAC long enough to know that I can do better elsewhere. I respect all the people who post on this site, and think that there should be an outlet for them to vent their frustrations. I feel that the person who says that we are nothing but complainers is missing the point. I left ERAC and I have never looked back, I feel that my time there was wasted, and unfortunately a lot of good people were “made quit” or just left in frustration with the unfair promotion practices of ERAC. I’ve known people who worked over 55 hrs a week and were totally taken advantage of, and if they hold a little bitterness and resentment and want to vent that here, then I think that they should be able to. These people are not complainers, these people just need an outlet to voice opinions they were not allowed to voice at their job. If we all keep silent then ERAC can do whatever it wants and our silence justifies their behavior.

Set a goal for yourself and a timeline to reach it. It may be to pay off some student debt and become a manager within 3 years. Don't make the mistake that so many make with the "blind hope" that if they just stick it out another few months to a year, that things will be different. Some people get lucky, and if that's you, ride it for all its worth. But for most, if you follow the above advice and have an updated resume ready to be handed out by your goal date, then you can leave with your head high, not thinking you just wasted 4 years of your life, but that you learned a thing or two and that you were meant to do something else. Do this and you'll be in a position of Power when you leave, and not feeling powerless and hopeless.

hey dude I know that Enterprise stresses you out but you gotta learn to deal with your problems the "right way" when you get to the office and have 2-3 customers waiting for you just tell them to chill a bit you need to warm up the computers. if they have a problem ask them to go to walmark before they open and see it they would let there ass in.
2nd when you get to the dealership and that asshole customer is pissed off just blame it on the dealership " im sorry but that al your dealership pays for" "sorry shit head go piss off your advisor"
3rd the whole lunch this i cant say anything there I never eat but i still manage to gain weight working here.
4th the people who call your branch who cant even speak english just hang up on them " fuck em!!" the that whole insurance thing, again have themn call the ins cmpny
5th that cs who does not qualify " too bad fucker see ya"" have his ass walk maybe he will learn his leasson. remember no bad esqi call if he's not in a car.
well i hope that now you know how to deal with your day a little better..

I got more advice for you if you want it..

original message--
I was thinking about this last night, the differences between a typical day now and a typical day when I worked at enterprise.

6:00AM
Enterprise: Wake up, shower, shave.
Now: Still Sleeping

7:15AM
Enterprise: Arrive at office, have 2-3 customers waiting outside
Now: Still Sleeping

7:45AM
Enterprise: After dealing with customers, head to dealerships
Now: Wake up, shower, and shave

9:00AM
Enterprise: Get yelled at by BMW customer because his loaner car is a cobalt
Now: Arrive at work

12:00PM:
Enterprise: Rent cars to people in a hurry taking their lunch breaks
Now: Take a lunch break

2:30PM
Enterprise: Take a lunch break(maybe)
Now: Attend staff meetings(not held after hours starting at 7pm)

3:30PM
Enterprise: Call customers to tell them insurance company has declined their claim.
Now: Call client, talk is business related but friendly.

5:00PM
Enterprise: Take non-qualifying renter back to house\dealership\bustop
Now: Leave the office

6:15PM
Enterprise: Help out customers who "just made it in"
Now: Finish up workout at gym, or run at track

6:30PM
Enterprise: Take one more trip to dealership to pickup\drop off cars
Now: Eat dinner

7:30PM
Enterprise: Eat dinner, normally alone(family has already eaten)
Now: Relax

9:00PM
Enterprise: Exhausted, fall asleep
Now: Either go out with friends or just cont. to relax around the house.

It's amazing how much life changes once you leave ERAC. This doesn't even account for special cirumstances which warranted us to be in the office extra early or extra late, such as repos, corporate customers, or other situations.[/quote]

Typical Enterprise day in my books:

6:30am: get ready shower, and shave once every three days.
7:20: otw to work. Taking my time, listening to CBC news on the radio, having breakfast.
7:40am: arrive, happy to see my MT's freezing outside. Oh and yes, the MT's have hot coffee upon my arrival.
Instructions to staff: put all customers and accounts on hold till 8am. The sign says 8am bitchesss!

8-10am: surf the net, email, eat... typical monday morning. MT's doing callbacks.
10-12pm: Marketing. Mall, coffee place. If I really feel like it I usually visit the girl that im banging. oh and yes she is an account.

12pm-3pm: Lunch. Send out staff on lunch. Smoke a quick J in the back. I must admit, 3 hours of work maximum.

3-3:30pm: OKI all callbacks. Close of all pendeds, bang CC's. Tell all customers that the insurance company or bodyshop did not pay.

3-6pm: surf the net. Tell customers no take backs after 3pm. Smile and shake hands.
6-6:15: warm up the car.... spark a joint and waive to my area manager.

Esqi is great!
eat it!
