I have had a positive experience with E so far (even though my branch is super understaffed - half as many ppl as we should have). I think it all boils down to if you are the right person for Enterprise. If you are, you love the job because the growth is great, you like to deal with customers, you are a good problem solver and you don't get stressed easily. I have been working 50 hour weeks for a while and I'm still standing!

And the benefits are pretty good guys. Compare them to other private organizations. Most would give you NO vacation days (paid) in your first year. Employee referrals are a good chunk of cash, training bonuses...

But to all those who are unhappy, go work for the government then because chances are your the type that just wants to see the money with no effort...and doesn't like to be challenged.

Just wait. Just wait. You're still in the "honeymoon" stage with e.

And we do not have paid vacation until after a year. we get choice time days, which someone has pointed out we are discouraged to use, and are able to "borrow" vacation days with approval.

Has anyone ever tried to figure out what percentage of MT's actually ever make it to a senior position in the company? My bet is not too many.

And we do say no to customers - we are out of there at 6pm on the dot (give or take 10 minutes) almost everyday. If a customer calls at 555 and wants a p/up we kindly inform them that we close in 10 minutes and that it is not possible.

Its all in how you run the business. If you have a bunch of NRES made for 545, call them and tell them that they need to come in earlier. If you don't have any cars - plan ahead and call your customers, be honest. We don't sell chocolate bars here...cars are not always on the shelf in great variety for the taking.

My branch has one of the highest ESQis in the group and its all due to good management and a good team. It is possible but if you are at a branch that isnt all it should than a. transfer or b. quit

50 hours a week, and you've been with the company 2 months... I would like to talk to you in 2 years if you will say the same thing. Companies are obligated by the Ontario goverment to give 2 weeks when you start now. Enterprise conformed to this way after it was the law. The way it is going it may be a good company to work for, only a few more people to get kicked out.

ALL MT'S, MA, AM and MNG CALL THE ONTARIO LABOUR BOARD TO GET ERAC AUDITED. I NOW WORK FOR ANOTHER COMPANY AND I GOT 2 WEEKS OF VACATION BECAUSE I DID NOT GET ANY IN MY FIRST YEAR. AT MY SECOND YEAR I NOW HAVE 4 WEEKS TO COVER FOR THE FIRST YEAR. THIS IS THE LAW!

I wonder sometimes about what I do for a living... it's sad; what we put up with. No one should be expected to put up with the s*&% we need to take from our customers and referal sources on a daily basis (I agree with the "customer is always right" philosophy but their has to be a limit) .

I have only been with the company for just over a year and I have seen some great people leave. Really amazing people, which Enterprise has failed.

My favorit part about Enterprise bashing (if you will...) is to think about our best slogan; never over promiss. Well, what about all the over promisses I have had...

A great management training program, a crash course MBA, run your own business, take control of your career.
--now, let's analize--
The management training program is pathetic unless you know nothing about business. Enterprise will teach you the basics but since we need a college or university degree we already know them. I have tried to describe similar ways of doing things (or have just changed the terminoligy) and have been told I'm wrong, do it the "Enterprise way." (I chuckled to myself)
We'll teach you all about marketing, HA! I would love to see either an MIT, MA, AM, BM, or AM write a marketing plan and try to sell it to an investor. I'd pay hard earned money for that. Visiting referals, cold calling, sales calls, handing out coffe may be part of a marketing mix or part of the action plan but it is not teaching someone a sound understanding of marketing.

Ok, I'm just getting started and can go on for hours so I should just end this in saying I am going to start searching for a new career.

Thanks for listening,
My name

I worked for ERAC for 4 years, I could not only write up a marketing plan or a business plan, but I could sell it like ice to an Eskimo. Enterprise taught me to do this. One thing you didn't learn in school (since you seem to be spitting out terms from a textbook) is what you learn in school is 10% of the battle. You get what you put into it hippie. If you want to learn it, your opportunity is there (especially in C3) you just have to get up off your lazy ass and get it

I am not going to start to argue over points, that is not my goal here. I'm just saying that what Enterprise promisses vs the reality of working at Enterprise is night and day.

There are many great things Enterprise offers thier employees, however, what they say and what they deliver is not one and the same. Having said that, I am sure you could write a plan and I also agree that in school you do not get a complete picture or full understanding of what it takes to open and run a successful business (I have and continue to run a small business so like you, I understand that).

Enterprise will help to optain that knowledge but not to the extent they say. They teach you some great stuff in regards to runing an Enterprise Branch but not for running a business in general. Many skills (tangable or intangable) are transferable (mainly intangables) but most are not.

There are many other organizations which have much better training structures in place where at the end of the day not only are you very knowedgable but you also have credentials. Enterprise gives you (besides knowledge) nothing to take with you while advancing your career.

Also, I should say that everything is relative. I believe that Enterprise would be better off training those with only high school education. These employees would have less expectations on salary progresstion. A class mate of mine worked for a different company and is now doubling my salary with several more opportunities in his organization to grow, learn, and earn more. We started at the same time and have similar backgrounds.

Working as a branch manager making 30-45k is ok if that is what you need to reach your goals in life (home/car/lifestyle) I on the other hand aspire to have much more in life. Therefore it really is relative to your goals.

In reference to this post....sounds like you are very new to the world of E. It also sounds like you may work at the only properly run branch in C3. Try working at another branch and see how you feel then...........................
