| can anyone from c3 answer the following? what's the starting wage for an mt in ottawa / how much would you make in your first year (on average or rough estimate)? thnx. |
| |||
| As an MT, you're looking at $10 per hour. $250 every time you complete a stage test (rough time frames of 45 days, 3 months, 4 1/2 months, 6 months) and then $1200 when you complete your MQI (general time frame of 1 year). Expect to made about $27K on the year. Ottawa has lots of movement though, so once you get promoted to an MA, you've got opportunity to move up, and make more money. |
| |||
| that's roughly 27k before taxes i'm assuming eh? |
| |||
| Yes, before taxes. The first year can suck - it takes awhile to get accustomed to the long hours (expect 48-52 per week) and the lack of time off (7 days paid in the first 12 months)...but after that, you get two weeks vacation plus 7 days, and you make $11/hour as an MA. Also, any hours above 44 is time and a half, so for 4-8 hours per week you're making $15/hour while an MT. |

| Thanks for the great answers, helped a lot! Have my 2nd interview on Monday, still contemplating the idea, been reading this site tons as well as others to get a better picture. I'd like to find out for myself though if I end up getting it and see how it goes, working hard and getting paid crap is no new thing to me, worked for Disney the past few summers! |

| You'll be told in the interviews that "You're in charge of how quickly you move in this company." And it's true, especially if you're in an area (like Ottawa) that has a lot of branches and the opportunity for advancement. There are some downfalls, but aren't there in any job? It's a great place if you're looking to get more management experience, have an interest in sales and you're willing to put in lots of hours. There are people out there that have been working for ECARS for a decade or more. There are others who have decided that it isn't their idea of a career, and have left within the first two years. If you do get offered the job and accept it, just be on top of your training. Pester your manager if need be to ensure you are getting your training, and don't be afraid to reach out to other people for help. Good luck! |

C3 was only good for free booze with a bunch of people you didn't want to be hanging out with. But some of those nights were beyond funny. There use to be some interesting cats rolling around that place. |
