Re: Enterprise in Ireland Have you ever considered that it may be possible that all businesses in Ireland are managed like this? Could it be true, surely not. The sight of Managers having to put out their company cars on rent over Christmas was one of the best. Where Enterprise' business plan fails is that there never seems to be a plan that is communicated to the Staff from the ground up, I have worked in Companies where the MD got everyone together once a month and discussed what we did that month and what we wanted to do for the one coming and not just financials either. They tried to work on organisational aspects even down to fairly simple suggestions that factory floor staff had to offer ( some of those ideas saved thousands over the year and the employees who suggested them got a bonus). I know for a fact that MH tried to get Managers thinking about this, he even bought them all one quite famous book by Dr. Steven Covey that you may be aware of. One "Manager" that I have known definitely didn't get a lot out of it and admitted cheerfully that they don't read much. In fairness, I think this person had a learning disability and surely had not attended any Third Level Institute. No fault of theirs but a good blagger they were nonetheless. On a re-read, the above looks a bit bitchy. I have nothing in particular against this person but they made more mistakes in reading and writing than anyone I had ever met but did the job quite well. My point is basically that there is a lot of literature and courses to take out there and some of the Staff are quite well educated, so why is the Management so badly organised? |
