Default mature graduate

I need some honest advice; I have an interview next week with Enterprise for MT, I'm a mature student with children. I'm concerned about the number of hours expected. I'm a grafter, but working until ten at night or even past seven is going to be a problem. Will this affect the well advertised offers of fast promotion. And what is the environment at Enterprise like for mature graduates.

You will do great...as long as you dont like spending time with your family.

I started at 25 in the UK and lasted 6 years. I didn't get to see my first son grow up...it's not for family types, especially at the lower levels although it does get a little easier the higher you get (I was a BM) but then the monotony of the job and the long hours got to me...it really is a job for youngsters with no ties/responsibilities especially at the lower levels - good luck, but if I was you I'd walk away - the money vs the hours simply isn't worth it, and don't be swayed by the 'opportunities' to make loads of ££££. It's renting cars ffs!

Thank you, I have found this message board very helpful, I'm thinking how to cancel my interview, should I use the moment to explain what I have learnt in the last few hours about how their website contradicts their practices and Cultural Compass.

ERAC is not a place for married couples let alone those with families.

I was there for nearly 6 years and saw several friends get divorced because of the hours they were spending at work and with work friends.

Additionally I had a colleague who was an assistant manager told that he wouldn't make branch manager because he was married and couldn't devote appropriate time to ERAC.

I would not consider this "opportunity". Working 13 hours a day is starting to grate, especially when we all rely on flip to pay our wages.

I'm about to send an email to the UK head office cancelling my MT interview; any suggestions for my reasons (well reasoned ones, please). This is an opportunity for Enterprise to receive some feedback?
Thank you for all your help and saving my future x

Say you are aware that ERAC is not a role for someone in your situation and that despite being told that you work 8-6 with an hour for lunch that you have found that the avaergae time spent there is 7/7.30 to 7pm as a minimum. On top of this you are also aware of out of hours gatehrings that Area Managers pressurise their employees into. The prospect of promotion is a sham. Mention that a branch manager was promoted to an area manager position despite allegedly leaving the keys to 24 cars in an open drawer at an airport location and when the cars were stolen, he was moved to the most profitable branch in the group merely because he was a yes man. Tell them they do not value, nor reward people with independent thought and that you are concerned that the MT programme develops drones not valued workers.

I would also say that you are looking for a role which offers work life balance and one that takes into account the need for time with friends/family. Also you don't wish to be placed into a situation where you are delivering a car whilst eating lunch and using your mobile phone 10 hours after starting work because it is a danger to you and the public.
