good point, everyone at erac should be in a union, you are an idiot if you would let these bastards do what they wanted to you without this back up

join a union! less than a tenner a month for peace of mind that when (yes when, not if!) they decide your face doesnt fit anymore and they want you out you will have backup, and given recent events, I am quite confident that erac dont really want another case going to tribunal.

In the US once you become management you are no longer eligible for the union. So once you become an Assistant you no longer have the protection affforded. Is this the same in the UK? If so while a union will help you as an MT it seems it would limit you as far as promotion. I think we alll know that ERAC will retaliate against any good union man. You may not be fired but you I just can't shake the suspicion that you will never move forward.

erac in the uk cannot stop anyone being in a union, thet cannot discriminate (or be seen to) against anyone in a union regardless of position. the trouble with erac senior management in the uk is that they do no understand uk labour laws nor do they have a HR dept able to explain it (they are not qualified in u4 at least), this combined with the required amount of stupidity and arrogance demanded by erac to gain promotion to senior levels is a receipe for disaster for erac in the uk.
