| Kev Jackson, Hazel Dyson, Simon Baldwin, Chris Cope and Emma Newland all leving the company in a matter of two weeks. These are not unhappy MTs, these are not idiots, these are well respected managers and collegues who had worked hard to get into their positions of management. Once you get there though you realise, as they have done, that there is a ceiling through which you will not pass without conforming to ERAC/PDFs idea of man management (I'll ask for other posters to define this later in the thread). SB, JS, GD, JC, RC still there. - I thought PDF was now, after several complaints from staff after stating ESQI has to be at 80%, thinking of raising the promotional ESQI criteria to 97%? in order to shut everybody up with their British Whinging. - SA 'marble Arch' (as shit don't stick to him) on the other hand wants anyone without a POSITIVE 12 month rolling average bad debt cost to recieve Corporal Punishment. - PF wants to sell to companies with ex ERAC employees working for them - hehehehehehehe - he wants also to stop people talking cookies into accounts as this doesn't conform to the ERAC policy of 99p ASDA Doughnuts. - DP is trying to 'get the [extra] business' with ASDA discounted for better rates. - DG is working up a budget for all the new whips and rulers required for SA, understand why DP wants further discounts on 99p (he thought that already included a 1p advance?), forecast retention figures following the introduction of PDFs policies and then workout how much business is being lost by these employees going on into good companies and slating ERAC for PF. Good luck to you all in your future careers. |

IMHO this is very clearly level 3/4 in u4, pehaps even u4's latest edition from the US? no one else would push the 'short sighted' bull shit, you know...work 60 hours a week for crap money and bad treatment, 'because you have to look at the long term!!' the truth is, as all of the people who have left recently have realised, (and there was some great experience and talent in this bunch) the long term is just a green fairy tale. In reality the long term is as bad as the short term, only with more contact with PDF!! and the sooner you wake and realise this , then the sooner you might be paying enough tax to support someone, now you fuck of you loser. and take pdf with you. |

| I love the self-importance of some erac-ers. Listen carefully - the big money in the UK is NOT THERE anymore! The 'pioneers' took it (and good luck to them). I was there for 6 years, and the 'bigger picture' just got further and further away. Think about it, how can anyone progress at mgr level if all they are doing is training another round of 21year old kids to fill the last round of 21 yr olds who left after 6-12 months. You lie everyday for a living - you lie to your employees about 'the bigger picture' and you lie to customers about their rentals...and you get paid for it. Point me to anyone in the UK in the last 3 years who has truly 'made it'? In what other job can your salary yo-yo like mine did - Year 3 - £38K, Yr 4 - £32K, Yr 5 - £27K, Yr 6 - £22K. (Note: it's DROPPING!). The other thing that makes me laugh is that I know mgrs who are content to take £26K from branches that 3 years ago paid £40K+ and they still think they're being paid well!! Don't believe the hype about the £££ - ask someone to show you their payslip the next time they spout off about how much £ can be made |

The "short sighted pricks" must refer the the Erac management and their flavour-of-the-month policies surely, or refer to the sustainability of a 60+hour working week. 'Drain on my tax' refers to those who have left - But I know that they've all QUIT! No income from state until 6 months have passed . . . I know EN has certainly going to a new job. Someone should tell this guy it's the ones PDF/HAUGHTON have fired for pathetic reasons with no regard for employment law that are actually costing them all their money - GRP OVD last two months ring any bells? or Arch's rediculous relocation allowance. . . . me thinks they have ALL five have left for better paid jobs. "Losers all" must again be referring to PDF, ARCH, DP, PF, and DP in that order - clearly. And then swearing at the end to top off an otherwise idiotic response. Clues suggest that it is an American (loser, poor grammar, no capital letters - keeping it simple) or at least an American influence - Perhaps PDF, DG or ARCH have graced us with their presence? They're the ones which should f**k off to the benefit of all. (not sure about the unecessary swearing hear but what the hell :) ) In terms of short sighted more to add here - simply to say that the above comment is proof (well said to that person by the way) of how short sighted the people are that DON'T go. Revenues falling, new branches opening, little promotion to area manager, used car market falling, Vauxhall pulling out of rental deals, then if you're lucky to get to area manager - the ceiling - then sit there while they will only bring in Americans above you - useless ones at that. Food for thought for any current ERAC people. I'd ask the person who wrote it to add more - if they have the stomach for it. Those that know him no Arch hasn't got the b**locks though ( unecessary I know :) ). Where's the8moss now? |

| Do you mean that you want more comments from me? (I'm the person who added the one above this one). I don't really have much more to say other than that it's easy to fall for the promise of the great career, and hard to find the time to create an opportunity to leave when you're there. If, like me, you are there long enough you can also fall into the trap of being bored by the monotony and just 'drift'...that said, I do miss the people although to be fair I was never mis-treated (apart from when I missed out on promotions, obviously!!) by my superiors. See the job for what it is - long hours, hard work, poor (relatively) pay. Good luck, but just remember - even though your title may have 'manager' in it, you rent, drive, and wash cars for a living. |
| |||
| not another person who moans for not being promoted. Maybe thats where you fell down, if as a manager you where washing and driving cars all day. How about spending some time in your business and doing as your title suggests and actually 'manage' the branch. The enterprise business model in itself is quite simple, however, you cannot just 'drift by' and expect to make a mass of money. it is still hard work. Delegate, train and develop people, earn their trust, lead by example, educate people how to generate income and control costs. It even sounds easy on paper doesnt it, but success wont just fall in your lap. you work hard at it until you succeed. So dont moan at being another manager who hates enterprise, just because you failed to succeed. |

| Hey pal, the 'promotions' thing was tongue-in-cheek. And please, change the cassette tape in the back of your head - I heard all that stuff for 6 years!! Maybe, just maybe, I got bored...and I'm not moaning about the company or promotions - I 'liked' working there, and thought that the company wasn't a bad place to be, I just didn't want to do the job anymore which led to me taking a closer look at what I was actually doing. Believe me, when I was making good £ I did nothing different to my final year it's just that the 'business environment' changed and guess what - even ERAC can't affect that. Please don't misunderstand me or try to initiate the old pro-erac vs anti-erac argument. I'm not anti-erac. At one time I even thought the same way as you!! I guess I should expect a reply in about 10 hours time when you get in from work though, huh? ;-) |
