Default do you know a branch that needs reporting?

taken from the post in main uk forum, but a great reminder, if you know an enterprise branch that is breaking UK law in the way it disposes of its water from the wash bay (you know, the one laced with chemicals) straight into the main drains or into the flood drains without cleaning it up first, then do the good deed and call the environment agency! contrary to what erac senior management beleive, they are not above the law of the land.

"I've been thinking about wether Enterprise operates within the law when it comes to its wash bays and the waste that it disposes of into the drains. I've been studying the Environment agency website (www.environment-agency.gov.uk) and reading what it says about the rules on businesses disposing of controlled waste.

The environment agency's definition of controlled waste -
"Controlled waste means household, commercial or industrial waste. It includes any waste from a house, shop, office, factory or any other trade or business premises. It is controlled waste whether it is solid or liquid and even if it is not hazardous or toxic."

It also says anyone who deposits, recovers or disposes of controlled waste must do so within either the conditions of a waste management licence or within the conditions of an exemption from licensing.

The environment agency's definition of hazardous waste -
"Hazardous waste is essentially waste that contains hazardous properties that may render it harmful to human health or the Environment"

Im assuming hazardous waste must include washing detergents/soaps, alloy cleaner. oil etc..

What's everyones elses opinion on this matter? Do you think its operating within UK law? I definatly think Enterprise should have some concerns over its operations and I think if you do have concerns than you can report Enterprise to the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60"

you complete total bunch of idiots - do you seriously think the environment agency will close branches of enterprise down for this?! The company has a 36 month time frame to bring all branches in line. As long as they can be seen to be making a start then that is good enough, and as you will see there are branches that are having new drainage put in.

Secondly - Do you think shutting the wash bay in any effect will make your lives easier? Wake up! You will be down the local car wash faster than your legs can carry you. Any what will that mean - longer working hours as it takes longer to clean your cars. Plus your managers will be so pissed at increased overheads you will get more pressure to sell to cover the costs. All this means you are even further away from getting promoted than you are (yeah, crazy i know)

So quick, call that 0800 number.........

SO!!!!! what is wrong with wanting the company you work for to comply with the law of the land and have some respect for the environment??

we couldnt get any more pressure to sell ! and oh, what a pain, having to drive down to the carwash and sit whilst the machine washes it, this will probably be the only fucking break i will get all day anyway.

and by the way you complete total idiot, YES i do KNOW the environment agency will close a branches wash bay down, i know this for a fact!

- aawww poor enterprise, having to comply with all those nasty laws, it clearly demonstrates that their badly flawed busines model, is entirley reliant upon cutting corners, shoddy practices and the good will (the naievity) of its staff working 60 hour weeks and not taking lunch breaks,------ well dick head- welcome to the real world!,..if you dont like it- why dont you get a better job, rather than come on here and have a go at people for expecting erac to behave in a honest, ethical and legal manner.

so yes you cock-wipe i will call that 0800 80 70 60 number...!!
