if you are not responsible for what happened 60 yrs ago...then how am i responsible for indians, vietnam, hiroshima, etc.
funny that you have the stones to bring up the a-bombing of japan.
a lot of the technology came from german science...god forbid that hitler didn't quite have enough time to get a bomb operational.
you know he would have used it...
i'm a student of german history, sorry if that angers you that an american knows your past...we are not all rednecks and fuckups like you stereotype us as.
i just find it funny that some germans on this thread are calling geo bush a dictator when your whole history is one of dictators
you should really have a bit more of respect for us, if it wasn't for our army base protection you'd be a slave of the slavics. be greatful that you are free today, you owe that to your american friends

But we now need to deal with it and we do! And that's where the difference is: A lot of Americans do not deal with what is even going with their country now! How can you explain to me that war is the answer?

So in WW2 6 million (and even more) innocent people died - but what about Afghanistan and Irak? How about those innocent people?

And before you speak about Germany and its bad past: How about your own? What about the Indians? What about Vietnam? What about Nagasaki? What about Hiroshima?

But even worse: Think about your present and future!

Let the one without sin be the first to cast a stone! (John)
don't blame the holacust (sp) on hitler...that is a cop out.
the german pop is to blame just as much as hitler was.
he was elected and widely supported by the pop...what did the civilians do between 1932-1945? what did they do??
quiet submission, hitler's willing executioners
a major stain on a great people

OH MY GOD!!! If you are a student of German history then I assume you speak German?!!? Because getting to know the culture is only possible by speaking the language. I bet you speak it fluently... if so, we can certainly carry on with this discussion in German, am I right?

And the reason why I referred to Hiroshima and Vietnam is because of the fact that usually Americans start speaking about our past - now how do you feel about something you are "being made responsible for" which you could have never possible influenced?

And by the way: If you study German History then you should also know that we owe you nothing, Mr. Super American in terms of democracy because we already had a beginning of a democracy with Scheidemann who declared a democratic republic on the the 9th of November 1918.

much credit to you for knowing english
my german skills are rudimentary at best...if i moved there i would make every effort to master the language.
and as far as vietnam goes...you didn't mind usa protection during the "cold war"...why are you so upset about usa protection for s.vietnam?
if it wasn't for allied support you'd have been overrun by communist ussr.
and lol at your 1918 democracy...how long did that last???

I shall say no more since you obviously don't speak German!
I think very many people will support me when I say that you can only get to know a culture when you speak the language.

And what's this example with languages nobody speaks anymore?!? Come on, my friend - give me a break! But I do have to say, though, the fact that I learned Latin for six years made it easier for me to learn other languages and to understand how languages work and where words derive from.

So I think you can now go back to your little world (living in a biiiig country at least) learn about our history and keep on bitching about how horrible Germany's history is so that you do not have to reflect on your own!

Super Idee! Der Typ regt mich sowieso tierisch auf!
(Translation for our non German speakers: Good idea. The guy already drives me up the wall)

Hey americans, why don't you just shut up? You whine about europeans and their general assumptions - well so far you have done nothing to prove us wrong. Therefore I think its correct to call the majority of you rednecks (exemptions to the rule apply). The biggest terrorist is Bush, even though you would never admit it.
