Yeah I'm a Used Car Sales Man but Gotdamn I'm fuckin makin money. Plus as a Level II AE (in which someone said previously is bullshit) I drive any car I want on the lot under $17K - FREE GAS - FREE INSURANCE. Which will probably save me about $20K in bills this year. I get free massages every week because I have PPO insurance for $13 bucks a month. I have an expense account which I use to take MT's out to lunch.

All in all - just get the facts straight please. You can talk all this shit about ERAC but you know what? THERE'S NOT ALOT OF COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT CAN SHOW YOU $110k+ in less than a year and possibly $150K + in less than 2 years. I'm not saying there arent any companies out there that would do that but it is certainly RARE! If you find one - congrats! I commend you - for everyone else still searching - good luck!

P.S. For the guy that said that his buddy makes $800 selling cars at the local dealership. That's bullshit - Average sales rep at a SATURATED Dealership makes about $300/car. His CLOSER (TeamLeader) takes 1/2 the cut and whoever else helped out with the deal gets a cut. It's really B.S. and the time frame to move up is ridiculous. Also my buddy works for a Pharmaceutical Sales Company - been there for 5 years. Great Base pay ($55K w/company car) but low comissions. His first year he made $75K and never made anymore than that. Never moved up - nothing - he just hit his cap every year. Oh yea and his boss makes $85K-$90K he's been with the company for 10+ years (what a joke).

Which brings me to the next point. I've browsed around this site looking at what people have to say and all I see really are people who just could'nt hack it. WITH ALL JOBS YOU START OUT WITH - YOU HAVE TO PUT IN WORK - I THINK PEOPLE HERE INCLUDING MY PEERS THAT JUST GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE ALL THINK THAT THEY ARE GONNA MAKE 6 FIGURES OFF THE BAT. VERY POSSIBLE BUT IMPROBABLE. Point is Wash your cars in your suits - work your ass off and move - up. CORPORATE POLITICS & BULLSHIT EXIST EVERYWHERE GUYS - NOT ONLY AT ERAC AND ITS SAD BECAUSE "MOST" PEOPLE THAT TALK SHIT ABOUT ERAC NEVER REALLY WORKED FOR ANOTHER LARGE COMPANY AND EXPERIENCED EVEN WORSE POLITICS THAN THAT OF ERAC. I on the other hand has experienced Corporate Politics that make's ERAC's bullshit look like heaven.

To give some people here the benefit of the doubt. I have seen some dumb shit @ ERAC and I can see why some people are angry. When you start letting it get to you is when you fall off. You think your Area Managers and RVP's didnt experience this shit when they first started? Off course they did. But they rolled with the punches and dealt with the bullshit and are probably now sitting at $200-$250K+ a year in doing so. You know what they're saying in their heads right now? Motherfucker that's right I did wash cars in my suit and I did Rent cars to assholes but Gotdamn it's been X amount of years and I'm sittin pretty. IT'S LIKE THIS WITH ALL COMPANIES - YOU GOTTA PAY YOUR DUES AND PUT IN WORK. IN THE ROUGH NEIGHBORHOOD I USED TO LIVE IN WE HAD A NAME FOR PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED AND BITCHED WITHOUT PAYING THEIR DUES AND EARNING THEIR STRIPES. "PUSSIES".

Right but lets think of it like this: You are working everyday of the week plus longer staurdays cause that is the busiest time of the week. You've been there half a year so no vacation time just a couple choice time once a month big deal.
So if you work 58 hours a week because of the longer shift on saturday which you have to do to sell cars your working about 3016 hours a year. Assuming a 70K salary that is about $23.21 an hour.
I'm also going to inlcude the car, but lets be serious its FCAR and below...Its not like you can take an infinity home smart ass. That and they have to be in show condition apon return and they charge you $200 a week if you want to drive it more than to and from. So how much at best driving a Pontiac Grand Am around and paying $200 a month to havbe the luxury of that?
I'll say its about 8K - $2,400 for the monthly payments. Lets not go carzy your not at the rental branch so its not like you can charge hundreds of dollars on your gas card without a call from the controller.
So Yes you are making $23.21 an hour plus a $5,600 car package to drive around a hot Gran Am, maybe Grand pri. Lets also keep in mind that you are working non stop even if you go to the gym after work to stay in shape you'll have no time to do anything else, but hook up with the ERAC girls that have already hooked up with everyone at their branch (before they hit up the used car guy). WOW and I didn't even get into the fact of when you leave ( and you will my friend because you already have to justify your salary to us, so you are already not seeing any benefits, but paycheck branging) you will have nothing really on your resum but used car salesmen which is worse then manager.
Do we even need to go into how proud your family is of you seeing you work yourself into the selling used cars................The world won't always be green so enjoy it.

Its not your fault you don't know that a 50K a year job with better benefits and a three week vacation, and more days off will net you about $25.51 an hour not including days off like christmas monday and days that you get to leave early because your not in retail.

I completely agree about our needing to show some more respect for making an honest living. Too bad Enterprise often forces its employees to lie to customers on a daily basis or else they'd earn some of that respect.

The message I keep hearing from current and former employees is that the only way to be a successful employee at a branch is to lie to customers on a regular basis. I've heard that hundreds of times. The lies include:

~Yes, we'll hold your reservation
~Your car is just getting washed
~Your car will be here in just a minute

and many more.

In fact, this whole site was based upon my getting lied to repeatedly. This is not the way to "earn an honest living".

Are you really saying employees aren't "forced" to lie in order to be successful at Enterprise?
