I am very happy to say that I recently stopped working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and will never have to immerse myself in that work environment again. However, I am not going to talk only negatively about ERAC, instead I will paint a very realistic picture of a company who promises way too much, but does offer a great deal should the right individual sign on and stay narrow-minded throughout their duration at the company. There is plenty to said about the level of experience you receive in the numerous functional areas of business and the skillset one can take away from ERAC in just a short period of time, but that individual must prepare themselves for rigorous hours, lies and what can best be described as college educated minimum wage. I would best define this job as the poor man's MBA and highly recommend it to anyone with a hard work ethic and the ability to stay positive regardless of how many customers and accounts look down upon you due to blatent unreliability. Pay: As stated in several other reviews, this is quite possibly the most creative pyramid scam ever. To say anything else would be a lie. There is tremendous discrepency between the Management Trainee and Upper Management that is borderline ridiculous. This error could be changed if proper base salaries were adapted and the commission was altered to affect those who have the ability to increase revenue and profitability, the Management Trainees. Respect: I actually received quite the deal of respect while I was at the top of the matrix, other than that the only respect I had was from my new employer, who is very impressed with the Enterprise mindset. Customers hate you, accounts hate you and managers are quite often bitter because you directly affect the bottom line but aren't compensated well enough to care. Benefits: Who needs a 401K when you don't make enough money to put away? Also, the medical and dental are very nice....if you can find a place that accepts the plans. There have been payment issues with the provider. Job Security: This is one of the great things about the company. You can be the worst performing employee ever, but you can still write a contract and drive a car to pick up a irate customer. I actually worked with one guy who told me he was trying to get fired because he thought he could collect unemployment. He cursed out my assistant manager, was tardy, slow and always screwing up. Their solution, move him office to office till he finally gave up and just quit. Work/Life Balance: This concept can be found near "Dodo Bird" and "Dinosaur" in the Enterprise dictionary because it doesn't exist. Be prepared for 50-55 hour weeks where if you don't take a lunch your manager will make sure to put down you did. They say you work saturdays, 9am-12pm, its actually closer to 8am-2pm as you struggle to pull you and your manager's head out of their respected butts. Aggressive managers keep the phonelines going after 6pm to continue booking deals and keep you from getting your several hours a day to job search. Career Potential: Only the narrow-minded survive. Thats right, you and everyone around you will be with this company the rest of your lives. How about you wake up and take notice to those around you working 15 less hours a week and being compensated better on numerous levels. Upper management has it good because of the time they got in, but many of the newer breed don't seem to realize that. Regardless, would you really be happy staying with the same company only to manage dozens and dozens of underpaid and underappreciated employees while you drive around in your company car, have meaningless and rehashed conversations on your Blackberry, only to go home and and dread falling asleep because of the thoughts of losing your job only to find out that you will never make the same amount with your now stale skillset. Also, promotions are unfair as can be. This is supposed to be a performance based company. I ran circles around my co-workers and was rarely thanked for it, while mediocare, but brainwashed white trash can beat out proven leaders only because they are more of a free thinker. Location: Enterprise litters the landscape, just look for the gray and green beat up dive of an establishment with slaves in a shirt and tie scrubbing down a vehicle that hasn't had an oil change in nearly 12,000 miles. Co-worker Competence: Enterprise has a rigorous interview process, mainly because they can tell that half the people who walk through the doors would wise up and get out in the first month. This fact ensures that you do get quality people who are willling to bust their butt. I just wish that half of them opened their eyes to the career field and make a move that would prove beneficial to themselves and not Enterprise. Work Environment: What can I say, its just down right horrible. Management that doesn't care, accounts and customers have no respect for you, cleaning cars in snow, rain, and 115 degree weather, long hours, weekends, and an atmosphere that is cult-like to say the least. When I left I became blacklisted and I can recall situations where lies were created to make former employees look like manipulative monsters and thieves. I guess that is the thanks you get for making someone straight profit while improving the level of customer service and continually having a positive impact on the bottomline.

These are the kind of posts we need to see more of. Absolutely impressive to say the least. It's not bitter, it's not angry, it just tells the truth. This poster has got it absolutely right! My one wish is that a site like this existed while I was working for ERAC. I would hope that corporate would read this and say, "They are absolutely right, we need to change." It will take a lot of time, but I firmly believe that ERAC will change for the better.

JobVent is a good site and I wish I would have read about ERAC before I said I would work for them.

I highly disagree with you that Enterprise will change their ways---I have worked in other groups and some groups are not as bad as others. However, the corp. way of life is the same and it sucks. Erac knows college labor is cheap and plentiful and there are a million suckers born ever min. They have the system set up so you will leave---they want you to leave because you will be too burned out and too tired to put up with that horseshit anymore---so in comes new blood all full of energy ready to be the next hot shot that makes six figures. Until a year later they realize this company sucks and exploits poor little old ladies and men.
