I don't like extremists of any kind, right or left. Although I am mostly a conservative, I have views that would insult the far right. My thing is this: protect the country from terrorism, secure the borders to stop the flow of illegals, and show fiscal responsibility in government. So with that we are pretty close. I would go Terror, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, which are part of responsibility, then stop the flow. Nearly everything else is negotiable to one degree or another

What makes me dig in against other issues is the leftist attitudes of blaming America first. That makes me want to oppose them on the social issues too, even though I don't have a strong opinion either way on alot of it. I figure if they want to let immigration run rampant and give radical Islam a free pass, it is my duty to oppose them on abortion, gay marriage, etc.

I actually voted for Bush in 2000 because I thought he'd give us low taxes, less government, and free trade. It didn't work out very well, though.

Isnt it strange ?????? The Republicans should have the true beef with GW, not Democrats. Bush has acted more like a Democrat than a Republican during his term.

Yeah, Bush has turned out to be a failure in that and other areas. Until this past year or so I don't think he met a spending bill he didn't like. I know Iraq has cost a lot but it is actually ony about 2.8% of our GDP. He is spending like mad in other areas. His spending is up 30%. 87% of that is on crap here in the US including some really effing stupid shit. It erks me to no end, and I do not like it. Here are some of the things we have paid for

$2,500,000 for a small business pilot program to re-engineer the DOD vendor payment process.
$500,000 for the Arctic Winter Games. (Teddy & Alaska again)
$1,000,000 for the Gaming-Technology Software Initiative
$26,350,000 for a facility restoration plan at the Allegheny Ballistics Lab (Bob Byrd keeping money flowing into West Virginia for decades now) Also this lab was restored less that 4 years ago
$1,000,000 added by the Senate for a competency-based distance education initiative with Western Governors University in the state of Senate appropriator Robert Bennett (R-Utah). This school is a private university that only gained accreditation in 2003. THe government has no business giving money to a private university.
13.4 percent of total Louisiana pork, or $13,500,000, was allocated to one project, the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway, even though it is only used by 4 percent of Louisiana’s commercial traffic. And, according to the Army Corps of Engineers, the waterway’s costs will not be justified until 2046. In addition this is money taken away from reconstruction

Robert, looking at the conservative party from a historical perspective, have they done ANYTHING right? Most of the progressive advances have come from liberals. Women's suffrage, freedom of slaves, African American rights, etc...

Did you learn your lesson and not vote for Bush in 2004 like half of the U.S. citizens? I turned 21 in 2004 and voted for Kerry. Even though I didn't like either candidates, I voted for Bush's primary competitor.
