It would be one more person for them to pay for....heaven forbid. Plus happy hours is where people do the most hooking up anyway. :)

Ironically enough before we started dating I referred my husband to work for erac (during my bleeding green stage)
he got hired and we both worked in different areas. We still never got to attend happy hours together.

hrumph.

Default Hook ups

As a former branch manager I witnessed and participated in many hook ups. The happy hours were tame compared to Orlando. I've never seen so many married people, both men and women disregard there spouses at once.

Default DUI IRONY

In our group many, many employees were arrested for DUI after leaving company happy hours, where all the alchol was privided by ERAC. The irony is that at DUI is grounds for immediate firing and many, many, many are fired -all the time--after drinking company provided hootch.

i worked in Brattleboro and Bennington unill this past fall. I was only there for a few months because I only took the job until somthing better came along. both those branches sucked becuase the closest other branches were an hour away, and picking people up who lived an hour away was annoying for us and the customer.

Default Oh Lori!

Yes! I did work for missy Lori. Her over tanned face and fake nails rapping on the desk. She was horrible! She has to be the oldest Area Manager around - approaching 40? Is "little Lori" still there? Ms. MacDonough. Heard she was attempting to walk in Lori's bitchy shoes. Freeatlast - what is the latest gossip there? I haven't been around for 4 years - anyone still around from that time frame?

Default Sliding ruler

This is an example of typical upper management failing as emulated by my ex-GM:

1) When he was single, only surrounded herself with other singles and failed to understand the needs of the people with spouses.

2) When he got married, didn't understand why people needed such a long maternity leave and why couldn't they work long hours if they weren't truly interested in their career.

3) GM now has kids and has surrounded himself with upper management with similar profiles and will only socialize with other employees with kids. The management types who don't have kids are usually the first ones pressured to leave as they don't have as much to lose when they quit or are terminated.

4) GM blatantly only invites other management types with children to his home for social activities and changes the topic of discussion when confronted about this by the management types w/o kids.

What does this teach us?

Surround yourself with people who think like you and you will never be disappointed or contradicted.
