Default Enterprise Managment Trainee Program as Stepping Stone

I'm a recent college grad trying to get a job in pharmaceutical sales. Needless to say, it is extremely competitive and is going to take some time to finally break in. The chatter over on the pharmaceutical end of things is that Enterprise is an incredible resume builder and their management trainee program is top notch.

I filled out an on-line application a few hours before reading this. My question is, is the management trainee program really worth it?

Will it help me secure a position in the industry I want?

I have no intention of making a career out of ERAC or anything..I just figured I could work there for a year to get some more B2B experience on my resume.

Any suggestions?

I worked for J&J for 2years. We hired on quite a few people from enterprise. I left J&J 4years ago and started working for enterprise. I am an area manager and make more money then I ever did working for J&J. The first few years were tough but very worth it. At J&J you do the same thing everyday, the money wasn't bad and the job was ok but...
After you get through your first assistant manager spot enterprise becomes much more enjoyable. As an area manager I make my own hours, well pretty much make my own hours. I make 6 figures. I hire and I fire, if necessary. I love what I do now much more than before.
Best of luck

From what I read here, it's a stepping stone to stress, weight gain, poverty, depression and Sunday night anxiety. By the time you make it to a pharmaceutical job, you're going to need prescriptions for several of the drugs your company is selling.

I call bull shit on this one. The MT program is good, but you will totally loose who you are. Try copier sales instead. I've heard this a good stepping stone for a pharma ob.

Look heres the honest truth!! Yes its tough, and your time as a Management Trainee will not be the most fun. But if your looking to hire on just as a resume builder don't bother. The only reason to sign on to ERAC is to work your way up. By the way ERAC doesnt want someone whos in it just for the experience. You would be a waste of time and money to ERAC. This job is not for everyone, I had my ups and downs. Yes its long hours, and you wash cars and many other not so glamorous things, but I worked there for 8 years and I loved (most) of the people, and once I became a manager I loved my job even more. There were times I wanted to quit, but it was the people and support that made me stay. I would think hard before going any further in the interview process. If your not in it for the long haul dont bother!!

Try MLM or pyramid schemes.

Disregard this post for what it is, propaganda. ERAC is fully aware that most mt's will quit within a year, they need to fill spots. ERAC needs people to sign up, regardless of how long they really intend to stay.

I completely agree with this post and I can share a similar story. I worked pharma for 5 years with a company called Medicis. It was a good stepping stone and I made some pretty good money as a pharma rep. Good base salary, company car, etc. Anyways, I got fed up with the corporate bullshit and I eventually found Enterprise. I've been with the company for 4 years now and I am a branch manager. I run the 2nd largest operation in the state and my life has dramatically improved since I made the switch.

I work a few more hours, but the comraderie that you get working for a company that truly cares for its employees is well worth it. Don't listen to what these idiots tell you about how bad the company is. True, my first year I made $30k, but my 2nd year as an Assistant Manager, I made $70k. Being a branch manager, I'm on pace to make $300,000 this year.

Not only has Enterprise had a strong financial impact on my life, it has taught me strong morals, ethics, and really has given me the satisfaction of knowing that I am making a difference in everybody's lives.

yeah, last year i was a car prep and made 6.50 an hour. the next year i was an MT and made 7.25, when you broke it down to hourly. this year i'm an MA and i'll probably gross around $4 million. my work life balance is great, and i love making new friends every 4 months because thats about how long the average MT lasts in my group
