Default Have an Interview Wed

Ok so I have an interview Wednesday with ERAC and I want to compile a list of very direct questions to ask about all aspects of ERAC and of the position...I am going into this interview not to get the job because after reading and hearing (not just from this site) about ERAC there's no way in hell I would leave what I have now to do this. However, I want to practice my interview skills and to ask a shitload of questions generated by you guys regarding the job. The questions I will ask will most likely guarantee not getting another interview but I guess I have a curiosity about this "cult" you people talk about. Thanks

Whenever you get to a point in the interview when you'd just like to leave and you're uncomfortable just getting up and going, just say "I was reading on Failing Enterprise...". You'll be out the door in seconds.

Enterprise and Failing Enteprise have a sort of unspoken agreement:

Whenever a candidate mentions Failing Enterprise, their candidacy is immediately terminated.

Whenever an employee admits to posting on Failing Enterprise, they're immediately fired.

Employees learn how Enterprise reacts to Failing Enterprise, so they come here after they leave work for the day to see what all the talk is about.

It's a win-win for everyone. Enterprise gets to demonstrate that they're "tough" and that they force some employees to believe an alternative reality, and we get lots of current and former employees coming here and telling the truth about them. It's a pretty healthy symbiotic relationship, I think.

I've been promising Enterprise for years that if they'd stop with all the bullshit, there'd be no need for Failing Enterprise, but they appear to be bound and determined to convince us that not only have they not learned but that they're simply not going to learn. Their negotiating strategy seems to be "We're going to continue doing this stuff to demonstrate that we don't listen to our customers or employees and that we're ignoring Failing Enterprise". This week marks the fourth anniversary of Failing Enterprise; I don't think it's working out all that well for them. I'm looking forward to our tenth anniversary. We'll be celebrating "Ten years of willful stupidity".

Attention Enterprise lawyers and paralegals: I'm young and healthy and Internet server and bandwidth charges just keep getting cheaper. Are you sure want to suffer the losses of a lifetime of us telling the truth here about your unethical and illegal practices? Ten or twenty years from now you're going to finally cave-in and all your co-workers are going to say "You dumb-ass, why didn't you take care of this years ago?".

Meanwhile, we're looking forward to a long, happy, symbiotic relationship.

1. What is the turnover rate in the first three months, the first six months, the first year? (I asked "what is the turnover rate" and Andy Mailhes, the reptilian recuriter for group 01 told me that it was about 29%. That of course is those that get through the 90 day "training" period.

2. What reasons do people give for leaving?

3. With this level of turnover how can you guarantee I will be properly trained and given the required amount of attention?

4. How do you ensure that branches are properly staffed?

5. So with this damage waiver, doesn't the customer's insurance company know that there has been damage to a rental? I have heard rental reps tell me that it isn't.

6. If selling this damage waiver is so important then how can you foster the atmosphere of teamwork you speak of?

7. When I drive past enterprise the lots are often empty but customers are inside. How do you deal with so many dishonored reservations?

8. With such a frequent empty lot how can you maintain these cars. Are they getting oil changes every 3000 miles and regular tire rotations?

9. Can you guarantee that I will remain at branches within a half hour of my home since you have so many locations? I realize this may slow my rate of advancement a bit.

10. Can I leave a tad early on Wednesdays to attend my Alcoholics Anonymous meetings? I have been sober for 3 years and maintaining sobriety is a top concern of mine.

good questions thanks...keep em coming....the only thing I see here is I do like to party but apparently I will destroy what is left of my liver in 6 months if I were to work there....I think the health concerns is what turns me away from this place....also question 9 brings up a good point as there are many branches here.....lastly I just fucking refuse to wash cars so really this is just going to be some sick sense of fun for me

Do I get a blue light and a two-tone horn to help me cut through rush hour traffic and get to a pick up point fives miles from the branch in two and-a-half minutes?

Is it possible I will ever find myself in a ghetto neighborhood trying to repossess a car from a deadbeat? And will I actually agree to go out and do such things because it is still better than being in the branch itself?

Also, if I'm forced to answer phones and deal with the general public on my lunch break, will I still be clocked out for that time? And if I am, will you clock me out for a half hour or for the four minutes that I actually had for a break?

These are some questions you might actually be able to ask without sounding too conspicuous... Here are 20 questions for your recruiter. Enjoy!

1.) How many new branches have opened up in the region this past year vs. how many have closed their doors?

2.) What is the percentage of female and minority Level 3 and above employees?

3.) What is retention for the MT position after 3 months, a year, and two years?

4.) How long did it take Andy Taylor and his daughter Chrissy to get to their positions? Did they have the highest score on the matrix and were their promotions based strictly on performance as you have said?

5.) Will I ever have to use my personal car for pickups or drop offs?

6.) Will I be given an hour lunch break and at least two fifteen minute breaks in accordance with current labor laws for the hours I work?

7.) If I make $32,000 a year, does that include overtime, bonuses, and possible promotions?

8.) Do I have to wash a lot of cars because I thought that ERAC hires car preps to do that?

9.) On that note, will I have to scrub toilets, floors, and windows in my dress clothes or do we have a weekly cleaning crew?

10.) Will I have to ever go get a car from a customer who doesn't pay, or does ERAC have repo people for that?

11.) What is the percentage of MTs who make it into Level 3 positions?

12.) Will I be able to be promoted out of the country if I wanted. Some place like Germany, perhaps? (I heard ERAC closed up shop there this year.)

13.) How is ERAC's training program different from Hertz?

14.) I read somewhere that ERAC posted almost 10 billion in revenue last year, how much of that was actually profit?

15.) Did Andy Taylor's G8DAY become a best seller yet?

16.) I've heard of a site called failingenterprise.com. What is that about?

17.) I've also read that major automobile manufacturers are no longer going to be selling fleet cars to rental companies for dirt cheap anymore because many are already losing too much money. How do you think this will effect ERAC's profit and growth for the next couple of fiscal years?

18.) What is the average age of an ERAC employee?

19.) Has ERAC ever laid anyone off?

20.) After I take a person's rental order, am I required to say: "Would you like DUB with that?"

Okay, one more for good luck.

BONUS: When a person makes a reservation, is there a system set in place that will hold the car there for them?

Good stuff! However, you might end up looking dumb if you ask question number 6. Federal law dos not mandate breaks for adult employees. There are only a few states that have any laws in place regarding breaks, and usually they only pertain to state employees. Why do so many people think they are legally entitled to two breaks and a lunch hour? Meal and rest periods are common in the workplace (other than ERAC), but they are not legally required, in most cases.

I'd be most interested to hear the answer to number 5. I'd also recommend that if the recruiter says yes then ask if the company will reimburse gasoling charges.

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT USING YOUR PERSONAL CAR ON PICK UPS. HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT REALLY HAPPEN? ANYONE WHO WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS IS A PERSON THAT IS GOING NO WHERE IN LIFE. THE WHOLE GOAL OF ENTERPRISE IS FOR THE TRAINEE TO WORK THEIR WAY UP THE CORPORATE LATTER. OBVIOUSLY THE PERSON WHO IS WORRIED ABOUT GETTING REIBURSED FOR USING THEIR PERSONAL CAR ON PICK UPS IS NOT SEEING THE "BIG PICTURE". PAM NICHOLSON, BILL HOLECAMP, DAVID BRENT, GARTH KEENAN, ANDY TAYLOR ALL STARTED OUT AS TRAINEE'S AND I AM SURE THAT THEY HAD TO USE THEIR COMPANY CAR FROM TIME TO TIME.
