Default Pick ups and employee safety?

Has there ever been a case where an MT was harmed, sexually assaulted, or murdered while doing a pick up? I used to think about this when going into shady areas to pick up a complete stranger.

Yeah my branch's area included East St. Louis, IL. I thought that everytime I went out. I remember getting lost one time.
