Default I REALLY Need Your Help/Advice...

I really need advice on what to do.

I live in Michigan, which has the worst economy in the US right now. There are NO jobs.

In order to be able to give myself a better life (I'm 25), I decided to apply to some places out west. Well, I got a call back from a ERAC in Texas.

My second interview (first one was over the phone) is going to be next week.

PLEASE be completely honest with your answers to these questions...
#1 - The pamphlet I got said that every pay period, we would be paid $910, based on a 40 hour week. If we work 49 hours, our pay goes up to $1217.08 per pay period. IS THIS TRUE?

I need to know because if it's not true, I cannot afford to move out to Texas.

#2 - Is there really no opportunity for advancement?

I have been working in retail/sales for 8 years, so I'm used to horrible customers, angry customers, getting breaks taken out even though I didn't get one, having no life, etc. I just need to get the hell out of Michigan, and need to know that ERAC is being truthful about the pay.

Please let me know ASAP. I JUST found this site, and I'm leaving Sunday for Texas..................

LIES LIES MORE LIES.

Look in the transportation (logistics) industry. Companies in that sector are hiring. I live in Metro Detroit, so I know all about the pain you're going through.

Do yourself a favor and cancel your interview, trust me.

Be patient and more opportunities will arise..think about it man, there is an ENTIRE site saying how bad this company is with thousands of posts....is it really worth that risk? A company with that kind of backlash is not good obviously, I know u mentioned you worked in retail, but moving across the country to work for a rent a car company? You can do better than that man, seriously and you know that. Stay positive and apply to every fortune 500 company possible, its the beginning of the year and you will get hired.

Just don't do it.Lies are what this company does.period.Dont make the mistake I did.

work and get paid and be happy.....don't be exploited.

If there is ANY company on the planet NOT to relocate for (especially as a new employee) it is this one. Please reconsider....

Keep in mind the pay period is once every 2 weeks. So you will get paid $910 every TWO weeks...and that's BEFORE taxes.

So if you are really desperate for a job, then do the following.

Apply at a bank...any bank. It's retail, just like Enterprise. It's an hourly wage. The base pay is about the same as Enterprise. You will have fewer responsibilities with the same payout. Here are some of the other positives working at a bank instead of Enterprise.

1) You will be in a sheltered environment. You will not need to check customers into cars during the Texas floods or wash cars in the blistering heat. All this in your business suit.

2) Enterprise will necessitate that you work at least 50-55 hours/week. At the bank, you have more control over this.

3) Moving up within the organization is easier at a bank. There are still politics but much less.

4) You will not have to pick up customers.

5) Binge drinking will not be required.

6) Your home life will be better.

7) You get more days off through out the year. Bankers even get Columbus day off!

You can apply to be a counter person OR personal banker. I would opt for personal banker if you have decent sales ability. Even counter person is an upgrade over Enterprise.

$1200 every two weeks, before taxes and you have to put in 100 hours of work, slave work.

After taxes, insurance (I am assuming you will need insurance) your paychecks go to about $850 - $900 every two weeks, and I am probably over-estimating. $9/hour. Think about that.

Here are your tasks that you need to do day in/day out for two weeks...
-- Wash/vacuum cars in slacks, white shirt and tie in 100 degree weather, sweating like crazy
-- constant customer yelling (verbal abuse)
-- 11 hour days (if you are lucky enough, but don't count on it)
-- No social life because you will be either too tired to go out after work,or just not enough hours a day to do anything else
-- having to explain to people that with your college degree, you have a career at ERAC when in reality, you are a porter/car renter

With that enormous check of yours, here is what most of it goes to...
** Dry cleaning (who has time to do laundry when all you want to do is sleep when you get home)
** wardrobe buying (you have no idea how easy your clothes/shoes get worn out working for this joke of a company
** alcohol (that's the only thing people do in this company, drink heavily

The amount of money you have left over...too low to even mention without being humiliated.

Here is my advice...Don't work for this company!!!!!

Find any other job, I guarantee you will be better off until you find something you are satisfied with. Trust me.

LIES LIES LIES!!!!!!!

Everyone is lying to you. ERAC is a great opportunity, why here's a quote straight from the non-biased Enterprise.com

"Everyday isn't so much like a workday as it is an MBA crash course. At Enterprise, you'll gain valuable and highly marketable skills in every aspect of business management from sales and marketing and developing a staff to customer service and accounting. Yet, we're not all business all the time. Enterprise is also a tight knit culture, where great people really enjoy each other's company both in and outside of work."

'Nuff Said. It's an MBA without the IOU -- jump on board the E-train of success and riches!!!!!!!!

Please put a window in your stomach so you can see!
1. Sales? This is the only sales position in the world that does not pay commission.
2. Marketing day means going out drinking or going home.
3. Developing a staff? What staff? We have no bench and our turnover is nearly 50%
4. Name one, just one training ERAC has for customer service.
5. Accounting? Calling insurance companies for payment is more like collections

The last line is so stupid it doesn't deserve a response. Please run away from the big Green Monster of lies.

Non-biased and Enterprise do not belong in the same sentence.

I agree with most of what people on this board say about Enterprise, but I can't believe how often people complain about ERAC trying to take them out for a beer. The one (ONE) thing I miss about Enterprise is that my manager would occasionally take us out for a few cervezas after work.

I worked at ERAC for just over a year and probably got to go have beers on someone else's tab a dozen times. In my current job for just under two years, I have been taken out for beers exactly one time.

I don't know what crazy world you people live in, but in my world, someone wanting to buy me beer is a good thing.
