I am good friends to this day with people who could not handle it.
As far as the ethics associated with this company. There exists, as in any company, a small group that tarnishes the reputation of the whole. I have seen a number of people terminated for unethical behavior. Nobody feels sorry for these people, they knew the rules and they broke them.
well put. Nobody lied to you...they told you from the beginning that you would work long hours and you just may have to <gasp> wash a car. But they also told you that if you were a hard worker and played the game right you would be rewarded. I am one of those people and I will say that I knew what I was getting into when I started. Now are there days that I question why I work here? Of course, but I would do it with any company. Facts of life. If this isn't for you, so be it. I know I would not miss a whiner.

[quote=Unregistered]I left ERAC over 4 years ago. I used to surf sites like this one when I was a bitter employee and thought I'd stop back just for fun...and fun it is!

With a little hindsight I can honestly say that I don't regret the experience. Sure, it's a pyramid scheme, but it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Very few employees actually make the kind of money that they talk about during the interview process and the fact that they almost require you to constantly drink & socialize to get promoted is pretty crappy. wow who would think that you actually need to socialize to get anywhere in a company??? I mean come on you can't really be that ignorant can you? As for a pyramid scheme...do you know what that means? I think that is one thing that ERAC is not going to be accused of...just an FYI. (and ps you still sound like a bitter ex employee...after those comments I now know why we got rid of ya)

Right now down to the nitty gritty...I attended an assessment day and during the first hour we were told that the company business is 8-6 m-f and 9-12 sats and that an employee "typically" works 45 hours a week (explanation for this was 8-6 =10 hrs*5days=50hrs and I presumed that 1 hr a day for lunch taken off = 45 HOURS any hours worked on a sat would be compensated for by having an afternoon off in the week). I appreciated that you may get the "Odd" telephone call @ 5.55 wanting a car and that is all part of the business..fair enough. I know this is what was stated as the person saying it was next to me.
I have just recieved my contract from the postman....and what a bunch of lies. Okay the company deserve poetic licence but what is this all about..
the "average" working week will be 48-55 hours and later in description of AM/BM duties states that the "average" hours are 55-60 per week. Now as far as i'm aware, in the UK, average refers to a 17 week period. So for at least 34 weeks a year an AM can expect to work 55+hours a week.
Then there is the Overtime, now correct me if i am wrong, i am going off the salary i was quoted of 15k pa for a MT. Working out the hourly rate (15000/52wks/50hrs=£5.76per hour and as for overtime this is paid at the same rate, quite how they figure O/T i dunno i presume (that word again) that anything above 55 hrs for an MT, so i doubt that much OT is paid.
Finally, on my rant, they have the *balls* to try and charge you £300 for any unrecoverd damage to a car whilst in your possession (personal not business) for 2+accidents in 3yrs. Now thats a bit rich, and before you all say "crap driver blah " i have 10+yrs clean licence and no accidents (fingers crossed). As a result I am going to call ERAC at tell em "thanks but no thanks"

It's not just personal use. if you have an accident when you're driving (whether business or personal) you get one for free and then you start paying even if the accident was caused by (as it always is) the fact that you're overtired and have to be 10 miles away now!

If you rock the boat at Erac, the boat rocks back.

You're right. But, at Erac rocking the boat is as simple as disagreeing with what your area manager says even when they are clearly wrong. Not all managers need to have their asses kissed on a daily basis. At normal companies, ya have to do a little more than that to rock the boat.

I turned down an offer today, mostly due to this site but also due to inconsistencies from those I interviewed with regarding company focus, hours worked, pay, etc. I really need a job but I know that this wasn't the one for me.
