Hey guys,

I was once close to working at Enterprise as an MT I guess. Back in November 04, just finished my college requirements, Degree in Business Adminsitration and about to go to my third interview w/ Enterprise.

I was also going through interview with Wells Fargo Financial, a financial sevices company. I actually was originally going to take Enterprise, because they made it seem like a job where your days were so varied, and you could make six figures fast. Thanks to this site- I found it one day in my research- I went to work for Wells Fargo Fin as an MT.

Since then they have changed the job title to credit manager. I live in the northeast, was hired at 32k salary plus chance at 4k per quarter bonus. SInce then they have changed the bonus structure- where as a CM you can make 2500/month bonus depending on your sales numbers. In seven months I have gotten a small raise- 3%, and also been promoted to Senior Credit Manager where I can now earn 3500/month bonus.

THe hours are not bad. I work 8:30-5:30 on Monday Wednesday and Friday, and 10-7 on Tuesday and Thursday. No Weekends. Also some branches only have 8:30-5:30 hours from what I have heard. In seven months there- getting paid 15th and last day of month- I have made about 22k. With a little OT at my discretion and hitting a couple small bonuses and one 2k Bonus. I am doing very well setting my self up for month of August with potential for 3500 bonus. I expect to make at least 40k this year. It takes you 3-4 months just to really get going and be fully trained or I would have made more than 22k so far this year-

The BAD- It is a sales job!! NEw rules and regulations have come on board- have to read a script to leave a message. HEavy telephone sales- although no cold calling- acually pretty good leads- where you call current and former customers and have their credit score, how many ccs they have etc right in front of you. The district work in is one of the worst sales wise, and they have now taken away our e-mail except for a couple hours a day. At times they babysit and ask you what you are doing and scrutinize how many calls you are making. It is a heavy numbers job, what have you done for me lately type thing.

So - just to let you guys know. I am not advertising this job to anyone. There are a lot of things I do not like and I have been looking for something else. I do not think sales is for me in the long run. I do not parucularly like the job.

However, what I am saying is that it sounds like a better starting point than Enterprise. A good name for your resume. More money, less hours, and potential to make a lot more than an MT at Enterprise. I even met a couple people at orientation who worked at Enterprise and left for Wells Fargo. So, if you are considering Enterpise and can not find anything else, apply for Wells Fargo instead. You may be pretty much a telemarketer, but you will not be renting cars for a living, will make more money, and can dress business casual.

I may be looking for something else, but at least while I am I can be patient for the right job- becauseI can potentially make 50k a year here, and I am doing well and have time for myself......also 21 days paid vacation which you get right away.

If anyone else has any questions, just reply with them and I will answer.

Once again, thanks to all on this site- because without this site I may have been an MT at Enterprise right now.
so i got a job offer from ameriprise financial .. as a financial advisor .. is that the same thing? do you guys know? thanks

telemarketer, imo.

Check out the financial advisor boards at www.amexsux.com

I almost took a job with them, too. I found erac more appealing, which should tell you something.

Update from the original poster.

With my paycheck coming on 10/31 (paid twice a month) I am now at about 37,800 year to date.

With 4 more paychecks coming plus a little OT I should minimum hit $43,500. That is if I do not hit any more bonuses. And I can make 3500 a month w/ those.

One word to the wise is they are not giving the starting salaries they gave when I started. They now give a lower base b/c of the better bonuses. When I first started the bonuses were quarterly, smaller and a lot harder to hit. Of course they changed it to the current structure A week after I started!!! Lucked out!!

Now you would probably start somewhere near a 30k base plus potential for 2500-3500/mo bonuses- I am at about a 33k base w/ a raise probably coming end of year. But hey this "base" is a 40 hr work week w/ no OT!!

PS. of my earning thus far this year- 10k= bonuses and only 1k is overtime. That 10k OT is all earned 2nd half of the year as I was in training/learning the ropes for first half of the year. Next year I would expect to make 50-55K minimum.

As you can see, if I did a crap load of OT like you do at Enterprise I would make a lot more money. Monday-Friday no weekends, no OT if I do not want to. Not greatest job but possible alternative to Enterprise for someone straight out of school like I was.

My roommate works for WFF...pretty much telemarketer...basically dealing with people who would not qualify with any other company. Haha...He said there will be times where he would suggest other companies for mortgage loans or what have you elsewhere...because WFF's products and plans sucks, and he knew they can do better elsewhere. Just be prepared to be handed a leads list, and get rejected call after call as you go down that list. I really am surprised that there isn't a FailingWFF.com

that's because no one ever walked into a WFF branch and was told their loan check is right up the street and have the interest rate suddenly be twice as much.

NO. My intention is to possibly steer people towards a better job than Enterprise. I went to the final interview w/ E, and then found this site- or I may have been working there- 50 hour weeks for 30K?

I feel maybe my experiences at Wells will help someone who does not want to rent cars find something else and make more money. I ended up making 44,650 my first year there, only 1,500 was OT, and that was my discretion.

I am very truthful- yes telemarketing is the majority of this job, but they also teach you how to run a branch- you also meet with clients and go over their financial situations. I have closed mortgages on my own, ran the branch for a week while the manager was on vacation- I am now a notary public and have an insurance license. It is a good name to have on your resume as well. Also, that 3500 cap on bonuses just got raised to 10k for 06.

Sales isn't for everyone though. In fact it isn't for me. I am getting burnout lately from countless hours telemarketing and a micromanaging boss. But, I used the experience I got there- and now am about to be offered a position at GE as a commercial loan portfolio analyst, making a good deal more than I make at Wells.

Like I said I am simply trying to give an alternative to Enterprise- The good thing about Wells is I had the spare time to find a new job, go on interviews. They give you 20 days paid time off right on hire.

And you are not "bragging" about money when you are telling people you made in the mid 40's. It is really not that much, especially when you count on bonuses for a good deal of it which you can't rely on to budget. If I was touting six figures, now that would be bragging!!

OK guys... I have an interview with wells Fargo today! I and switching over form northwestern mutual financial network...basically all commission... This is for "management training." I heard the interviewing process is very intense. What should I be looking out for? And Do they provide leads of do you hound your friends and family to get business? I donut mind a sales job, i just don't want to be in total commissions, which make me put uncomfortable pressure on people i know. hit me back!!!
thanks

While I working at ERAC I had an ex employee use me as a reference. When the hiring manager called me he basically asked me three questions about the ex-employee and then proceeded to try and recruit me out of the position I was already in. I had been a BM for 3 years and he was asking me if I wanted to become a trainee for Wells and take an almost $40,000 pay cut (as a BM I hovered around 70k) He had no interviewing skills, did not know the first thing about managing sales reps especially about different personalities, creating a sense of urgency, motivating people and getting results. He sounded like he was trying to get info out of me on how I would run his locations (yes he was a multi unit manager). Long story short, Wells Fargo is basically Enterprise Rent-A-Car with a better image, hours and pay. You still have people in power with no business sense, work ethic or morals. They don't know how to run a business let alone sell and it was pretty embarassing to have to have to talk to that man for the time I did. Wells Fargo is a great institution but one of the best parts of ERAC is the vary days, the customer interaction (I have much better work stories than my friends) and the chance to drive a different car everyday and beat the shit out of it. HOLLA!
