I have been able to "hack it" and could not agree more with the person you replied to. Yes, you do work your ass off at this company, but anyone who really expects to be successful in a career has to. Just ask your parents. Whether they are sucessful business owners, V.P's, C.E.O's, blue collar workers, etc., they did not get ahead by just being mediocre, they had to earn their raises & promotions based on their performance. Maybe you don't think you have to work as hard to reach your goals. |

| Does anyone have any experience of enterprise in the UK? I know its the same company but as I have been going through the interview process I've met probably around 15 different employees (anything from the recruitment people to a couple of MTs I went to talk to at my local branch) and I've also been introduced (completely independently of the interview process) to a friend of a friend who just happens to work for enterprise and my friend thought it would be good for me to talk to him and get an honest opinion of the company outside of the recruitment spiel! Now although I completly acknowledge you guys have had a bad experience with enterprise in the US, every single person I have spoken to along the way has had nothing bad to say about the company. Other than the fact that they have to be honest, it IS long hours and it IS hard work.. but surely you've got to expect that in any company, especially if you apply for the "graduate scheme" type jobs where we all know they take the piss with the hours and the work but eventually you work your way up! I've got a friend on a graduate scheme for one of the big accountancy firms and some days he works 12 hour days doing all the crap jobs, added onto that of course the travelling through London at either end. Even the "big bosses" in the company told me they began as an MT and worked their arses off to eventually end up where they are now. And I have to say I like it that nobody gets straight in at the top, everyone starts at the bottom. Basically, I'm looking for an unbiased, or at least balanced opinion... are there good points as well as bad? I dont want to go blindly into this job and find myself hating them as much as you guys do in 6 months, but at the same time I dont want to pass up what could be a good opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of the business world because other people have had a bad experience. Any honest opinions (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks, B.xx |

| Exactly the type of response u didnt even need to bother posting. I've read the site, I've read this whole thread but nobody mentions the UK. The actual UK pages, especially for the area I'm considering are all about "who's the biggest prick in..." or "who's the fittest in..." none of which are the kind of info which I'm going to pay any attention to making career decisions. You are obviously very bitter and have nothing better to do that make nasty replies to someone who is simply asking a question. Thats a shame, but its not my problem so go away you pathetic little misery and if I dont get any responses then fine, but I thought the point of this site was to discuss... hence I am trying to have a grown up discussion with anyone who is interested. If you're in interested that's fine but dont waste my time with your sneering pathetic responses. |

But once again you should have started this thread in the UK general disscussion board. That is where I think you would find the most people from UK to read your post. So I do think that would have been the smarter thing to do. So until you can get some more wattage out of that light bulb, maybe ERAC is a good place for you. Get ready to sell some DUB baby. |

| I do... I have worked for ERAC in the UK just a little bit over a year and to sum it up = DO NOT DO IT!!!!! They treat you as shitty here as they probably do in the States. Just don't do it. You will regret it because - like someone else in this forum said before - it is an insult to your intelligence. I have a Master's Degree and I was sold the dream. I soon realized, though, that I had to get out. To be fair, it took me a year to finally leave which only had to do with the fact that I had to plan everything carefully - since you always have to plan an escape carefully. Don't do it, it's not worth it. If you are somewhat intelligent - you won't take the job. |

I just assumed that "Stage 1: I'm Thinking Of Working At Enterprise Discussion Threads For People Thinking Of Working At Enterprise Rent-A-Car" was a pretty suitable place to discuss the idea that I am thinking about working at enterprise!!! Yes perhaps the UK board would also be a good idea but I just chose to post somewhere that seemed appropriate, I didnt really put too much thought into that- I had no idea it would be such a problem. I never actually called you a dick, I dont think I need to insult people to get my point across. I just didnt think the tone of your reply was necessary when all I did was ask a question! The reason I'm asking questions is that although I trust my own opinions I also think to form a fully informed opinion I need to ask other people! It would be not only extremely naive but also ignorant to think that the opinions I have formed of enterprise during the interview process (in which they give us all the corporate bullshit that every company does, and puts enterprise in the best possible light!) are the only ones out there. And I wanted to discuss with other people what they think, and why. So although I feel my light bulb wattage is more than satisfactory, I also acknowledge the value of what other people have to say. If you were able to simply answer the question instead of insulting my intelligence or being generally difficult it would have been much more appreciated. So anyway, thanks to the recent poster for replying... this site in general has definitely given me some food for thought and I wont be rushing into signing anything. I have other job offers on the table, one of which requires relocating but others I could commute to... I think I need to reconsider my options. Ciao. |
