I recently read that ERAC hired a Minority Consultant to help them find more qualified minority workers for their company. Sounds like their just trying to CTA(cover their ass) in case they get hit with another class-action law suit like back in 2002. Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about this "consultant."

I worked at a suburban office outside of Philadelphia, and I knew of only 3 minorities in the area. One got hired with me, but was promptly fired for mysterious reasons...he was a nice guy. Another washed cars in a different office, and another woman was a branch manager who was referred to as a "bitch" by everyone. Not sure why, I thought she was really nice. The offices in my area had some great people, but there was also an astounding amount of misogyny and racism and racism going on if you paid attention. The guys would openly talk about the girls looks. They would sit and just pick apart the prettiest and nicest of girls and talk about minute faults in appearance, but how thy would still "do" her. I was 21 when I went there, the day after my college graduation, listening to my bm and his asst. mgr. talk about the girls in my office like that, or how the female bm I mentioned above was a "black bitch", or talk about the car prep being a "monkey". I high tailed it out of there, despite claims from them about how I was making a huge mistake for leaving. I would never suggest to any woman or minority that they should work there. I'm surprised that they don't get slammed with more sexual harassment/hostile environment type suits. I spoke up once about how I was bothered by my bm's very public comments about my co workers while they were out renting cars (privately to him) and he basically gave the "you're not being a team player" speech. Right. Sticking up for my coworkers is not being a team player. For the sake of current female and minority employees, I hope someone from admin sees this post and takes the time to honestly look at what goes on in some branches.

After I posted the previous message, I figured I should should say that when I said I wouldn't recommend that females or minorities to work at ERAC, I really should have said I wouldn't recommend that they work in the group that I worked in. I don't know how the rest of groups behave, and I don't want to come across at bitter and resentful. I was in the Philly area, so I think it was Group 10? I forget now. I also just read a few posts from current employees, and I just have to ask...why don't you guys just look for other jobs? Sitting on this board scheming up ways to bring the company down just does nothing but make you look immature and bitter. I know it's hard to interview with the hours you work, but I mean, thousands of other people before you have left with jobs lined up, you can do it too. Some people really excel at ERAC, some, if not most people don't. If the job is compromising your morals or wearing you down mentally or physically...LEAVE. Don't give a second thought about their scare tactics that you'll never find anything better....they tried very hard to get me to stay with all of the typical lines. ERAC is just not a good place for some personality types. After a year or so there, I had grown up a little and decided my personality type was just too idealistic to ever *truly* succeed in sales, which is all ERAC is when you break it down. So I pursued other interests and I'm much happier now. If you're not doing well there, or hate everything about ERAC, you may just be better off trying something other than sales. I wish you all the best of luck.

What would you do : I am a foreign national sponsored by erac to work for them. Made to level 2. Trying to transfer to another group ( relocating to be closer to family ) and other group denies transfer with explanation we don't take foreigners !! One group does it, another doesn't?? What are the legal consequences??

Send Ed Adams a note at Corporate. He is the Company's VP of Human Resources. Sometimes the individual groups like to make up the rules. Last I knew all it took was the recommendation of your Group VP and the other Group had to take you. Let us know how it turns out.

TRUE STORY... I met a very nice African American man, who at the time was high up at Corporate.... Ken something or other. He assaulted me on the dance floor of BET in Orlando and rubbed his penis against me...and yes, it was hard. Maybe this holds some clue as to how minorities can be promoted at ERAC?? Be a complete and total jackass like all the rest of them.

A MINORITY CONSULTANT MY ASS? TOTALLY TO C.Y.A., THEY NEED TO CONDUCT DAILY DIVERSITY TRAINING ACROSS THE BOARD, ESPECIALLY WITH THE HIGHER UPS IN THE COMPANY. BUT THEN AGAIN, WHAT'S WRONG WITH DISCRIMINATING AGAINST AFRICAN-AMERICANS? I MEAN IN THE GROUP I USE TO WORK IN, HOW DARE YOU RENT A NICE CAR TO A YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE? HE ONLY GOING TO ROB YOU AND EVERY ONE ELSE..HOW SAD IS THAT TO HAVE THIS MENTALITY?
