Default Where there's smoke, there's fire.

I had an interview with Enterprise and decided to google the company. I came across this site and was amazed at the content. Some of the stories and philosophies of mgmt. sounded so familiar. I worked for a satellite tv company in a call center and the jobs are different but the problems are the same:

1. Management(males predominantly) that want to screw the sexy new trainee, and make everyone under them look bad. None of these people are leaders, and are usually so crooked it keeps you awake at night.
2. Things like lunch and going home to a different life for awhile are inconsequential.
3. Ridiculous solutions to sometimes unsolvable problems.
4. Look for inexperienced, raw talent and milk every ounce out of it. This will last until the end of time.

With the divine intervention of this website, I cancelled my interview, and was offered a property management position the following week. I absolutely love my new job and company. I know the things posted on this website are true because I lived them with a different company. Horror stories are not easily made up. This website brought back memories of a lot of wasted time. Thank you for using your experiences to warn and help others.

Welcome to corporate America, where a business grows so large that someone ends up running a branch of it who has no business being in charge of people. I laugh at anyone who reads employee gripes about any company and supposedly decides not to work there. Thank the Internet gods for saving another soul! A few disgruntled employees have not only saved you from making an unwise career move, you passed it up for a much better job! Woohoo, saved another one!! Yeah!!

Now Enterprise will surely take notice of this site!!! .... This is becoming such transparent b/s it is sickening.

I laugh at you for having your head up your ass. You would rather take the word of the company trying to recruit you and telling you nothing but 'good' things rather than listening to former and present employee experience. I laugh at you because I know what erac is like and many of the 'gripes' as you like to call them are more or less accurate. I'm thinking the reason that poster decided not to pursue erac is because he/she has some critical thinking skills and can put two and two together. Yet again, you choose to ignore what's right in front of you and put your head in the sand like a baby ostrich. You're so black and white you put a zebra reading a newspaper to shame.
Here's a suggestion, JeahHo..

Why don't you take that stick that is obviously stuck completely up your ass and pull it out so it protrudes just a little and then spin yourself like a top. Maybe the consistent rotation will allow bits of reality to enter your pores.

Default What's right for me

JeanHo

You're right. If big corporations run in the fashion of the one I was apart of, I am of a different breed than you. I don't want to be another replaceable part in a huge conglomerate. I was simply stating I am glad to have resources to see every angle of a company. If you compare the "Enterprise" website to the "Failing Enterprise" site, they tell you the same thing in two different presentations. I work for a "local" property management company in a tourism based economy in the southeast, and thats where I belong. I can appreciate your side of the argument, and I appreciate your reply.

Default worst cases

This may very well be a resource for perspective employees but let's face it...we all know what is presented here is extremely one sided. We unfortunately just don't have a lot of happy employees posting here...and for good reason. We've said it before, it helps legitimize the madness. In any event, I encourage people to do their own polling of employees. Please don't rely on this site alone. I'm not saying everyone here doesn't know what they're talking about...they had plenty of horrible experiences as an employee. My argument is that we don't all experience this. I'd be more than happy to share mine if anyone is ever interested. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Default in transition

As I am still trying to become deprogrammed to the ERAC sh@T, I will have to say that noone should be stupid enough to buy into a "BIG picture" with a company that posts a 65% retention. To me, retention says it all. Why do more happy employees not post...they are too da@N tired after their 15 hour shifts, perhaps.

I do know there exists that 17% of the population that is eager to get up out of bed and back out of the drive and head to their awesome careers, and for some reason, I cannot see that being a echimp. For the most part, I spent all of my Sunday dreading Monday morning. Literally! The only ones that survive the to the end are the "good ole boy network" fratboy assholes.

As someone said earlier, with any big corporation you will have unhappy employees. This is true, of course. But one needs ot remember that ERAC is still a family owned business that has failed to live up to its core values is several arenas. Even I was told of my promotion before the interviewing process even began. So, life's not fair...yada yada yada. I know after I left ERAC, I networked for a couple of months, and it is unreal! Every opportunity I researched put ERAC to shame. I learned a lot from ERAC...mostly what not to do and about rookie management and blue collar executive crap. Every time I pass an ERAC branch I still feel a little nausiated. Best of luck to all ex echimps.

Default ENTERPRISE is not equal to Corporate America

I do need to dispell the notion that working for Enterpise is analogous to corporate america. Corporate America does not consider a person who works 55 hours a week normal, no company requires these hours in fact most companies encourages its employees to work only 40-45 hours, including managment granted there are times when additional hours are necessary but you are compensated with time off or flex time. No corporation requires you to "voluntarily" go to bi weekly meetings at a pub!!! No corporation gives you a promotion and cuts your base pay! Most importantly no corporation considers you to not be "on board" if you instead of hanging out with people from work on the weekends actually have your own life. I work for a great company making 6 figures (in 3 years, not 6) and while I do enjoy the company of the people I work with, we are not expected to hang out all the time.
I cannot say that ERAC was a complete waste of time and that I did not learn anything, I did learn the lessons of hard work, managing people and customers. But what I did not learn was being rewarded for your hard work! The reason these websites are so sucessfull is that honest people are told nothing but lies from there first interview. I was nieve and should have left sooner, nobody held a gun to my head, however you need to know the truth. And while you may have a few successfull people making a lot of money, see how long they have been empolyed there, and you will find most of upper managment (regional manager and above) were hired in the late 80's when ERAC was booming and you could quickly move up. These guys have no idea what is going on today. They do not want to face reality that ERAC cannot grow at that pace and therefore are making up positions and promotions to try and save good employees. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents and when you are looking for another job ERAC does look great on the resume because there are a lot of us that made it out and are doing well in other companies.

Default AMEN

Could not have said it better myself, this place is not like corporate america. I do need to add also that corporate america does not speak negetively of its former employees. I had a regional manager tell us how "lazy" and worthless a former employee was and things are better now that he is gone. This former employee only sold 60% CDW and was a very hard worker, they were just pissed a good employee wised up and left the cult.

Also, please name another large company in America that has this many websites and cosistant stories about how horrible the company is, you cannot just chalk this up to a few disgruntled employees.

Default Quit now, trust me...

The stories are consistant from coast to coast, you will hate this job in 4-5 months. I have a few friends that worked in Southern California, and quit 2 months later. Unless you are in desperate need of work do not buy into this crap. If you have not heard it yet they will tell you that you have to give this job a year, there is a reason they say that, you get crapped on for a year and then it gets worse. You become a manager and have to lie to and motivate the people who are getting crapped on. You have to inspire people to get to work at 6:45 am and not stop working until 7:00pm. Then as a manger you get to work until 8:00pm chasing down people who are trying to steal your car, and the ARM says he needs the car back tonite but will not help you at all.

Believe me run, the money they promise is completly bogus, and even if you make 45k as a manager, keep in mind you are working 60+ hours a week. That is roughly 14.42/ hour, or if you get a big branch and make 60k working 60-65 hours/week that is a whopping $19/hour.
